Gordon Goodwin, the Grammy-winning composer known for his work on Pixar’s “The Incredibles” and decades of Disney musical projects, has died at 70. His wife, Vangie Gunn-Goodwin, announced his passing on December 9, one day after he died.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share that my beloved, brilliant, sweet, beautiful, kind, gentle, and most wonderful of all people, my husband, Gordon Goodwin, has passed away this afternoon, December 8, from complications of pancreatic cancer,” she wrote on Instagram.
Vangie said family surrounded Gordon as he died. “It was a beautiful peaceful passing filled with love and warmth. In his last moments all of us gently told him how much we loved him over and over.”
“Please pray for us during this unimaginable loss. He will be missed so much, and my life will have an emptiness that will never be filled,” she added.
Friends, family, and fans later filled Gordon’s Facebook page with condolences and tributes.
A Celebrated Career Filled With Awards & Industry Respect
Goodwin earned wide acclaim across his career, collecting four Grammy Awards, three Daytime Emmy Awards, and 25 Grammy nominations for his compositions and arrangements. His technical skill and bold musical style made him one of the most respected names in contemporary orchestration.
After graduating from college, Goodwin began his professional journey at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
His work there led Disney to invite him to produce a musical show featuring past and present Mouseketeers, including Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Goodwin’s work reached millions when he composed the high-energy jazz-inspired score for Pixar’s “The Incredibles.” The soundtrack quickly became a defining element of the film and remains one of Pixar’s most memorable musical achievements.
He also created Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, a powerhouse jazz ensemble that released numerous acclaimed albums. His most recent project, the 2021 EP The Reset, continued to showcase his inventive style.
