Rockstar Passes Away at 47 After Brave Cancer Battle: Tributes Pour In

Fans across the rock world are mourning the death of British musician Scott Sorry, born Gerard Engelter, who passed away on his 47th birthday, October 30, 2025, after a long and courageous fight with brain cancer. In a statement shared on his official Instagram, Sorry’s family confirmed the heartbreaking news.

“We’re heartbroken to share that Scott Sorry has passed away after a long and incredibly brave fight with brain cancer,” they wrote. “Scott passed away on his 47th birthday, October 30th, 2025.”

The family added that Sorry had been diagnosed with Glioblastoma in 2018, but never let it define him.

“He outlived every doctor’s expectation, turning months into years, and even made it back to the UK in 2022 for a tour — something that meant the world to him,” they said. “He was so grateful to play again, see so many familiar faces, and personally thank those who supported him through it all.”

Sorry is survived by his wife, Hanni, and their three children, River, Ryder, and Rörik.

From Amen to The Wildhearts

Before joining The Wildhearts, Sorry spent two years playing bass with U.S. punk outfit Amen, leaving in 2005 to enter Brides of Destruction, the short-lived supergroup that also featured Ginger Wildheart, as per Metro UK.

With The Wildhearts, Sorry recorded several fan-favorite albums, including their self-titled 2007 release, the all-covers album in 2008, and C¡tzpäh! in 2009. He rejoined the band in 2014 after taking time off to focus on family.

When he later stepped away from the group’s 20th-anniversary tour, Sorry shared a heartfelt message with fans: “The only thing I love more than being a Wildheart is my family. But with much respect and a heavy heart I’m bowing out of my favourite band.”

‘Onwards & Upwards’: His Courage & Optimism Inspired Fans

Even after his diagnosis, Sorry remained fiercely optimistic. In January 2018, he shared his journey on Facebook with honesty and courage. “They call it Glioblastoma. It’s an incredibly tough-to-treat cancer,” he wrote. “It’s scary s–t and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. But I’ve been scared before and I’m still here.”

He continued, “I have this beautiful family, these amazing friends, and an incredible life that I’m going to fight my ass off for. I didn’t make it this far to lay down and cry… I’m taking this S.O.B. on full force.”

Three years later, Sorry celebrated another milestone in his battle. “Today makes 3 years that they took that little bastard out of my head,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Three years later I’m training to race up Mt. Washington. I’m a lucky man and that is not lost on me in the least. Get out, live your life, love your life, create, take chances, don’t waste it. Onwards and Upwards y’all. Much Love x.”
