For many festive folks, watching 2003’s “Elf” is an annual tradition that brings both laughter and nostalgia to the special season. That’s why people were so charmed when the sons of the Christmas movie‘s star, Will Ferrell, decided to recreate one adorable scene from the beloved holiday flick.
If you’ve seen the movie, then you may remember the moment when Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell) enters a department store’s washroom because he hears Jovie (Zooey Deschanel) singing “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” However, she happens to be in the shower, which causes a silly scene.
And, yes, this is the part of the movie that Will’s sons, Magnus and Mattias Ferrell, chose to recreate. Fortunately for fans, they also decided to post it on Instagram.
In the caption of the reel, Magnus wrote, “tis the season am I right? @mattias_ferrell #ELF #BabyItsColdOutside #ChristmasMusic”
Fans Were Thrilled by the Reel
Magnus obviously thought people would enjoy the reel that he made with his brother, and he was definitely right. Plenty of Instagram users took to the comments of the post to share how much they loved what they were seeing.
One person wrote, “Y’all are so silly yet amazing. This made my day.”
“I hope people realize how iconic this is,” another fan added.
A third person wrote, “[D]id buddy the elf himself film this??!”
“Gotta love the Ferrell boyz ❤️💚,” came from another social media user.
Someone else left a comment, saying, “Will Ferrell DNA will save the planet.”
Will Has Opened Up About ‘Elf’
Getty“Elf” means a lot to plenty of people, and this is something that Will is well aware of.
“It’s really quite special,” Ferrell told People in December 2024. “I mean, it continues to grow by leaps and bounds, and it continues to kind of entrench itself as kind of a holiday classic for people. I’m so lucky to have a movie like that in my catalog.”
Pointing out that the film “really means so much to so many people,” Will added, “And not only during the holidays, but year-round. I have people come to me saying, ‘We watch Elf on July 4th. We just love it.'”
“So that’s what’s so great about what I get to do,” he said. “You never really have an idea of what’s going to land with people, and I love the fact that this movie continues to resonate in a way that’s pretty incredible.”
