Sofía Vergara Reflects on ‘Modern Family’ Bond: ‘We’re All Still Connected’

Sofía Vergara recently opened up about her connection to her former castmates on “Modern Family,” sharing how they’ve kept in touch since the beloved ABC sitcom ended in 2020.

“[The cast] kind of got separated because we finished, and two weeks later, they closed everything for COVID,” Sofía told People in an interview published November 10. “We got disconnected really fast.”

The 53-year-old actress, who played the hilarious and fiery Gloria Pritchett for all 11 seasons, said that despite the early distance, they’ve since made an effort to reunite and rekindle their off-screen friendship.

“We all got together again for dinner in November 2023,” Sofía explained, adding that the dinner brought back the chemistry fans loved for years.

Sofía Vergara Talks ‘Modern Family’ Reunions and Life After the Show

The cast of “Modern Family” — which included Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, and Nolan Gould — has stayed close long after the series finale.

Earlier this year, the group reunited to present at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“We’re going to do a big party for Eric [Stonestreet] and his wife Lindsay Schweitzer, who got married in September,” Sofía shared. “I’m super excited for him.”

While she confirmed there are no plans for a “Modern Family” reboot, Sofía revealed that the entire cast keeps in touch constantly. “Everything we do, we are connected in a gigantic chat with all the kids and all the actors,” she told E! News in October. “And we’re always watching each other, supporting each other.”

The actress also reflected on how much her character still means to her — and even imagined what Gloria’s life might look like now. “Jay and Gloria would be getting ready for Manny to already have left for college,” Sofía said. “That would have been, I’m sure, a really, really fun season, to just have now Jay and Gloria together with little Joe.”

The ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judge Celebrates With Family — On and Off Screen

Outside of her “Modern Family” circle, Sofía also shares a close bond with her real-life family. The actress recently celebrated her skincare line Toty with her younger sister Sandra Vergara, who joined Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” for season 9.

The sisters turned heads at Sofía’s Miami party, with the “America’s Got Talent” judge wearing a low-cut orange corset dress and Sandra opting for a strapless pale pink gown. “Celebrating the ultimate sun/skincare brand @toty with my family,” Sandra captioned her Instagram post. Sofía also thanked guests on her own page, writing, “Gracias gracias! to everyone that came tonight to celebrate @toty!!! It was the perfect Miami night!!!”

Sandra, 37, recently told Fox News Digital that while comparisons to her famous sister are inevitable, she embraces being her own person. “Immediately you’re gonna be compared just for the fact that you have the same last name,” she said. “But I’m completely different, and right now I’m doing something completely different.” Still, she credited Sofía for helping her move to Los Angeles and supporting her career.
