Tucker and Eric Des Lauriers are pulling back the curtain on one of “The Amazing Race” season 38’s most chaotic moments. The powerhouse brothers may have breezed through four straight legs on “The Amazing Race” 2025, but they say nothing compared to the drama that erupted during the surprise live Double U-Turn vote.
While the episode only showed a quick burst of tension, the duo claims the real scene was far messier, with arguments, interruptions, and even Phil Keoghan trying to step in as racers melted down around them. Now, they’re setting the record straight on everything fans didn’t see below in our “The Amazing Race” spoilers.
The Team to Beat on ‘The Amazing Race’
Tucker was a fan-favorite during his time on “Big Brother” 26. He joined forces with his brother, Eric, to compete this season. And competing was just what they were doing. Even when the brothers checked into a Pit Stop too early, they managed to come back strong and finish at the top of the leaderboard each week, including four straight wins.
They were clearly the team to beat, so when all the teams arrived in Athens, Greece, and Phil surprised them with a live Double U-Turn vote, the brothers knew what was going to happen.
When talking with Parade, Eric said, “We just had four first-place finishes. We’re like, ‘We’re getting U-Turned. This is a badge of honor. Bring it on. Just go run with this.’”
Drama Not Seen in the Episode
However, it looks like the other teams didn’t handle it very well, with a lot of the drama not being shown on television. Eric said the drama was kind of low all season long, but “then it just exploded with this U-Turn vote.” What kind of drama was there?
Eric went on to say, “So we’re there and teams are kind of losing their cool and really reacting hard to what’s going on…we were locked in, ready to go. And then just to see all the other drama just exploding all around us was very surprising and jarring for me, honestly.”
Tucker said it was a good “summarized version” shown on TV, “but the amount of back and forth that was happening, it was very hypocritical at some points. And we were just like, ‘Damn, we have a race to do! It’s been like 10 minutes of stuff going back and forth right now. We have to move on. Can we please move on right now?’ And Phil tried to butt in professionally a few times, and it just kept running around.”
Ice Cream & Magnets on ‘The Amazing Race’
During the second leg of “The Amazing Race” season 38, we saw Tucker & Eric stop off and get ice cream and magnets before heading to the Pit Stop. However, it wasn’t a one-time thing.
Tucker & Eric got magnets at every single place they went this season. They told Parade they were hoping “it was gonna be edited into a whole montage and stuff.”
This wasn’t anything they planned on doing heading into the season, but just something they decided to do on that leg of the race.
Tucker said, “We were talking about [that] you can only get stuff like that as you’re running the race. We’ve already been thinking about fridge magnets. And Eric’s like, ‘Let’s do it!’ And I’m like, ‘Nah, bro.’ He goes, ‘Dude, it’s gonna be legendary.’ And I was like, ‘Alright. But I’m getting ice cream, dude.’ And so then we’re in there, and there’s just the audio tracks of me being like, ‘Oh, they got this ice cream. Dude, we’ve got to take this ice cream. We have to keep the ice cream, eat it on the mat with Phil.’ And then that’s just exactly what we did.”
“The Amazing Race” season 38 airs on Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
