Despite numerous 90s shows getting rebooted in recent years, the “Everybody Loves Raymond” cast revealed their show is not on the list for a revival, and for good reason.
According to series lead Ray Romano, “We are never going to do a reboot because we are missing three cast members — and family members — so we would never try to do it without them,” according to Us Weekly.
‘Everybody Loves Raymond’s’ Deceased Cast Members
GettyAs Romano mentioned during a CBS special for the “Everybody Loves Raymond” 30th anniversary (which actually occurred during the show’s 29th anniversary), three original cast members have since passed away.
Doris Roberts is one of those cast members. The iconic actress, who played Romano’s mom during the series run, passed on in April 2019 of natural causes. She was 90 years old.
Romano’s other TV parent, played by Peter Boyle, has also died since the show finished airing. Boyle was only 71 years old when he passed away in December 2006. He, unfortunately, struggled with myeloma and heart disease.
Sawyer Sweeten, who played one of Romano’s kids on the show, died by suicide in April 2015. He was 19 years old, just a couple of weeks shy of his 20th birthday.
The ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ Cast Today
As for the cast members who are still with us, they’ve largely had successful careers post-show. Romano has starred in numerous TV shows and movies, including voicing Manny in the “Ice Age” movies and acting as a series regular in “Men of a Certain Age,” available to stream on HBO Max.
Patricia Heaton went on to star in the long-running ABC sitcom, “The Middle.” From there, she led yet another sitcom, “Carol’s Second Act.” She’s since done some indie movies and had a recurring role in Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot.
Brad Garrett has also had a thriving sitcom career in recent years. He played one of the titular parents in “Single Parents” and had a main role in season two of “Not Dead Yet.” Fans can also hear his voice in various animated movies, including “Finding Dory,” “Christopher Robin,” and “Elio.”
How To Watch ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’
Although “Everybody Loves Raymond” won’t be getting a reboot, fans can still watch the whole series on Paramount+ or on Peacock. With nine seasons and hundreds of episodes, fans can certainly satiate their appetite for the show without a revival.
