Bob Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, recently went on Jack Osbourne’s “Trying Not To Die” podcast to discuss how she and Saget met – and why she almost missed her chance at true love.
The 90s TV star originally saw his future-wife on Raya, an exclusive dating app for well-known individuals and people in the entertainment industry. However, the two didn’t match; in fact, Rizzo didn’t even see Saget on the app.
Luckily, Saget was determined to meet the blonde bombshell. He decided to slide into her DMs, even asking a mutual friend to tell Rizzo about the impending social media message.
However, Rizzo was initially uninterested in dating Danny Tanner. In fact, when the mutual friend initially told her Saget would be reaching out, Rizzo’s response was, “Ew, why?” In her own words, “I was not interested at first.”
Rizzo had good reason to be cautious of the sitcom star. After all, he was 23 years older than her. “When he was doing “America’s Funniest Home Videos” in a suit and … and I was like 12,” Rizzo said of her thought process at the time.
Luckily, Rizzo decided to go on the date anyway, although she admitted she was approaching the relationship more platonically than Saget had intended. “I kinda friend-zoned him,” Rizzo said.
As time went on, Rizzo realized she was developing feelings for the comedian. However, she was still guarded. “I can’t have a crush on Bob Saget. This is weird,” she thought back then. Eventually, she determined Saget was “pretty wonderful” and decided to “stop fighting” her feelings for him.
Their love story had a happy ending. According to Rizzo, she and Saget moved in together just ten months into their relationship. They tied the knot in 2018 during a beach wedding in California, per People.

GettySaget tragically passed away in January 2022, less than four years after wedding Rizzo. According to People, he suffered blunt force head trauma after a fall. His death was sudden and accidental.

Today, Rizzo hosts a podcast called “Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo,” in which she and guests eat a meal while discussing “love, life, loss, resilience and everything in between,” per the podcast’s Instagram bio.
Rizzo has also been able to find love amidst her grief. According to People, she’s currently in a relationship with actor Breckln Meyer, another 90s star who fans may remember from “Clueless.”
