Simon Cowell may be famous for his sharp critiques on “The X Factor” and “America’s Got Talent,” but away from the judging table, the TV mogul reveals a far softer side as a father. His son Eric, 11, whom he shares with longtime partner Lauren Silverman, has largely grown up outside of the spotlight.
Now, in rare new photos, the boy who once captured Cowell’s heart is being seen more often, and fans can’t believe how quickly he’s growing up.

Cowell on Becoming a Father Later in Life
(Photo by: Trae Patton/NBC)Cowell has never hidden how much fatherhood has changed his life. In an interview with HELLO!, he reflected on how his perspective shifted when he learned he was going to be a dad.
“Twenty years ago, I would have said I didn’t think I was going to have kids because I thought I was too old,” he admitted. “So when I got the news I was going to be a dad – and the first time I saw his scan – I was literally obsessed. Something changed and I looked at life in a completely different way. Every decision I make now I am thinking about Eric. Is it the right decision for him?”
A Bond That Means Everything to Cowell
The entertainment mogul also opened up about his bond with Eric during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

I thought that was it, until I saw the scan of him for the first time,” he recalled. “From that moment I saw the scan, I was like, ‘That is it, I’m besotted.’ Now I just cannot imagine my life without him. He’s the most amazing thing that ever happened to me. I adore him.”
