Todd Tucker took to social media to celebrate his newest career move after “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Kandi Burruss released a statement that the pair will be moving forward with their divorce.
Kandi Shares Divorce Statement
GettyShe announced her divorce from Todd on November 21 after 11 years of marriage.
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect,” Burruss told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.
“I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
Kandi and Todd met while filming the fourth season of “RHOA” in 2011 and announced their engagement in January 2013. They tied the knot the following year in April.
According to TMZ, the pair separated a few months ago after growing apart for some time, and it’s been an amicable split. TMZ further reported that, according to their sources, Kandi stopped wearing her wedding ring recently, but her and Todd still talk every day on the phone.
Only a day after the announcement, Kandi and Todd came together as a united front to celebrate their daughter Blaze’s sixth birthday with a Snow White-themed party at Ready, Set FUN! in Atlanta, according to PEOPLE.
Kandi Remains Positive Amid Divorce
GettyTodd has not yet addressed the divorce publicly, however, Kandi shared a very candid update about their split during her November 24 Amazon Live stream.
“To be clear, yes, I filed Friday (November 21), but this is something that has, you know, been brewing for a while,” Kandi said. “I’ve been going through it, child. Life has been life-ing me, okay? But what I will say is, Todd and I were together, our marriage lasted 11 years, we were together like, 14. We’ve got two wonderful, beautiful children. I have no regrets. I mean, sometimes things don’t work out, and it just is what it is.”
When a fan asked how she was doing, Kandi was very honest when she answered, “I am up and down.”
“Obviously, going through a divorce is definitely not the easiest thing. You know, sometimes you know you’re cool, you’re moving, you’re mixing, you’re moving, and you’re hanging out with friends,” but then at some points, she goes through “moments of sadness” and being “all over the place.”
“I like to keep those moments to myself,” she stated. When she was on housewives, she wasn’t able to keep these moment private, but in her “every day life” she doesn’t “really like for those moments to be shared with the world.”
Therefore, people shouldn’t believe everything they see online. She said it “means nothing” to see her smiling and acting happy because in reality, she’s “been going through it.”
“No matter what Todd and I are going through, we are parents together,” Kandi said. “We have beautiful children together,” so they are trying to make this transition as a family as “smooth” as possible.
