“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Heather Gay is setting the record straight about the cast’s now-iconic crossover with the “Below Deck Down Under” crew — and yes, she’s finally addressing the one question Bravo fans won’t stop asking: How much did the Salt Lake City women tip after turning the Katina superyacht into pure, unfiltered chaos?
In season 6, episode 9, viewers watched the RHOSLC cast wrap up their tense, emotional, and highly entertaining charter on Canouan. Gay didn’t hold back her admiration for Captain Jason Chambers and his team — and now she’s giving even more insight into just how grateful the group actually was.
Heather Gay Praises the ‘Phenomenal’ BDDU Crew and Explains How the Tip Worked
As the women prepared to leave the yacht, Gay addressed the entire crew with an emotional goodbye. “I want to say to the whole crew, especially my dear friend Captain Jason, that we have had a trip of a lifetime,” she said. “On behalf of my beautiful friends, I want to apologize for the fighting. I know that we put you through your paces, but you guys absolutely rose to the occasion. You were phenomenal.”
Gay then pulled out a white envelope stuffed with cash. “And this is a small token of our appreciation,” she told the crew. “We want you guys to go out on the town [and] think of us. Live it up.”
Captain Jason accepted the tip with his signature dry humor, telling the group, “I would like to think that meeting you individually was amazing. Together? My god… It’s like a hurricane coming back through here. But a really good hurricane.”
During her November 11 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Gay revealed more details after guest Ricki Lake asked whether the tip came out of her pocket. “Everybody contributed. And I filled in any gaps,” Gay said, confirming she acted as the primary charter guest. Andy Cohen added,
“You all contributed. It wasn’t production?” Gay responded, “Oh, no! The tip is real, and we loved the service, we loved the experience. It was cheap compared to what we put them through.”
So, how much did the RHOSLC women actually tip? Fans will find out in the upcoming season of “Below Deck Down Under.”
The RHOSLC Star Reveals Her Favorite BDDU Crew Member — and the One Who Worked the Hardest
When asked which BDDU crew member won her heart, Gay didn’t hesitate. “Mike [Durant],” she said. “Mike and I, we danced, we partied.” Andy Cohen then asked who endured the most chaos from the RHOSLC cast. Gay had another immediate answer: “Daisy [Kelliher]. I’m sorry — we put Daisy through her paces because Daisy was our go-to. As she would be.”
Fellow castmate Whitney Rose also revealed a blink-and-you-miss-it detail from the crossover, telling The Daily Dish that Gay left her spray tan and makeup all over the crew’s white shirts. “The amount of spray tan… was hysterical to me,” Rose joked. “As I turned around for one last wave, I was like [points and laughs].”
