‘Three Wisest Men’ Delivers a Hilarious 1st for Hallmark

Both Hallmark fans and the stars of “Three Wisest Men” are excited about the film’s November 15 premiere. The movie brings the Brenner brothers back together again for one more celebration, and nobody is ready for it to end.

“Three Wisest Men” is the sequel to Hallmark’s 2022 film “Three Wise Men and a Baby” and the 2024 sequel “Three Wiser Men and a Boy.” Ahead of the premiere, Hallmark hunks Tyler Hynes and Paul Campbell shared some insider scoop with Us Weekly about what viewers can expect.

Paul Campbell’s Top Priority in Creating the Movie Might Surprise Hallmark Fans

As soon as Campbell was tasked with developing the third, and likely final, movie of the series, he knew he had to prioritize. One top priority, he revealed, was to create the holiday-themed suits fans will see in “Three Wiser Men.”

“I knew that we needed something fun for our slow-mo. I’ve been wanting to wear wrapping paper suits…for a while,” he admitted.

Campbell revealed that his thoughts about this specific component of the movie were the “very first thing that came into my mind, the second [that] the idea of the third one was broached.”

A bit of a challenge, Campbell admitted, was to decide how to create the suits to use for filming, but to also be able to take photos in them after the fact.

“I knew right away, I’m like, ‘We need those for sure,’” Campbell quipped.

Campbell also considered how they could “pay homage” to the two previous “Wise Men” movies while keeping things fresh. He also noted they knew they needed some special things incorporated, with this being the last movie of the series.

“We needed some really beautiful scenes with just the three brothers sharing all of their feelings like total dumb-dumbs,” he explained.

He also knew he wanted to write a big speech for Margaret Colin, who plays Barbara, because she “is so extraordinary and mom needed to yell at somebody.”

‘Three Wisest Men’ Hits Most of the Marks the Cast Hoped to Hit

Another consideration as the movie was developed, Campbell added, was large set pieces. “We knew we wanted to destroy some things,” he noted, with a rather serious face.

There were also characters from previous movies that Campbell wanted to incorporate. At the same time, Campbell noted, they wanted to make the movie fresh and different for viewers.

“How do you pay homage to the previous movies without doing the same thing twice and repeating those beats,” he recalled contemplating.

Luckily, Campbell revealed, “We hit most of those marks.”

In an Instagram post shared on November 12, Hynes revealed another juicy tidbit.

The broadcast version of “Three Wisest Men” debuts on the Hallmark Channel on November 15, but there is another version of the film, as well. The “Extended Cut” version of “Three Wisest Men” becomes available on Hallmark+ on Sunday, November 15.

The extended version, Hynes promised, contains “An entirely different ending and lots of our favourite scenes [that] didn’t make the broadcast cut of this movie.”

Hynes, Campbell, and Andrew Walker have been excited for Hallmark fans to check out the film, and it is finally almost time for everybody to have that opportunity.

  1. Can’t wait to see this movie tonight and the suits are outstanding. We have a friend that has his own version of the gift paper wrapping suit. And he wears it every Christmas. Than you for bringing such joy to the viewers of Hallmark.

  4. Those of us who are diehard fans of HM and especially this series that cannot afford the extra channel will now miss out on this extra extended cuts and ending. That doesn’t seem fair.
