Paul Campbell’s Description of Erin Cahill, His New Hallmark Co-Star, is the Sweetest Thing Ever

Cat’s out of the bag! Two of Hallmark’s biggest stars, Erin Cahill and Paul Campbell, are in Vancouver filming a new holiday flick, “Christmas at the Catnip Café.”

In statements to People on September 15, 2025, the rom-com veterans gushed about finally working together on a movie. In fact, Campbell’s description of Cahill could not have been any sweeter. Campbell, 46, told People, “Erin is a ball of light wrapped in a bundle of joy.” Aww!

Cahill, 45, thinks Campbell’s the cat’s meow, too (sorry, couldn’t help it), telling People, “I am thrilled to be doing this movie with the one and only Paul Campbell. When I read the script, I could hear his voice in my head and could imagine all the laughs on set.”

The “Journey To You” star continued, “Add in all the cute cats and our magnificent director, Lucie Guest, and fabulous production team?! I was a joyful yes!”

But Cahill’s admiration for Campbell is nothing new. In 2023, she told Just Jared that he was one of the actors she most hoped to film a future movie with. (The others were his “Three Wise Men” co-stars, Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes.)

The duo has been able to hang out at various Hallmark events, including sailing aboard the 2024 Hallmark Christmas Cruise featured in “Christmas at Sea,” but “Christmas at the Catnip Café” is their first movie together despite having both starred in Hallmark rom-coms for so long (Campbell’s first was in 2015 and Cahill’s first Hallmark movie was in 2018).

In addition to singing Cahill’s praises, Campbell said in his statement to People, “Kittens, Christmas and a beautifully touching romance. What’s not to love?”

Campbell, Cahill, and the rest of the “Christmas at the Catnip Café” cast are expected to film through September 22, per Creative BC.

In her Instagram Stories on September 16, Cahill shared a screenshot of People’s article and wrote, “We are filming RIGHT NOW and I am so joyful to be alongside the incredible @paulcampbellofficial! 💕♥️”

According to the official synopsis via People, the movie follows Cahill’s character, Olivia Pierce, who’s “a marketing executive from Oakland, Calif., who is this close to realizing her dream of purchasing a condo, but she’s a bit short on the down payment. When she learns that her late great aunt left her half of a cat café in upstate New York, she thinks it’s the Christmas miracle she needed — as long as she can sell and close the deal before the holidays.”

The logline continues, “Olivia’s plan hits a bump in the road when she meets Dr. Ben Kane, played by Campbell, the veterinarian who owns the other half. The café serves an important role in the town — helping homeless cats find forever homes — and he has no intention of closing up shop. Christmas is the most important time of the year as they plan activities to help raise funds and get them into the black. Olivia and Ben strike a deal: she agrees to help him plan the fundraising events at the café over the next three weeks in exchange for Ben promising not to drag his heels on selling at the end of that time. Unless, Ben notes, she ends up changing her mind — a lot can happen in three weeks, after all.”

According to Lucas Talent, the cast will also include frequent Hallmark supporting actors Tim Perez and Irene Reynolds. “Christmas at the Catnip Café” will be part of Hallmark’s 16th annual Countdown to Christmas programming this holiday season.
