“General Hospital” star Avery Kristen Pohl recently treated fans to a brief cameo as Esme Prince.
On the December 5 episode of the long-running ABC soap, Pohl popped up alive in Laura Collins’ nightmare. Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, the actress gave more details about her short-term comeback to Port Charles.
“It was the quickest little pop-in, but it was so fun to see everybody,” Pohl told the outlet. “We filmed [the episode] a week after the [Daytime] Emmys, so I got to catch up with everybody and then go see them at work a week later, which was really fun.”

Pohl also revealed how she ended up back in Port Charles. The actress told the outlet that her manager called her, relaying a message from the production team.
“They were like, ‘Hey! thoughts, comments?’ And I was like, ‘Sure!’ And then a couple of follow-up phone calls and emails later, I was there [laughs],” the actress shared.
Pohl added that she enjoyed a warm reunion with her “General Hospital” co-star, Genie Francis.
“Oh, it was so sweet,” Pohl gushed. “I always love seeing her. She’s such a kind spirit. I didn’t know what the story was, particularly, when I was coming back, and I was really happy to hear that it was in her dream because I was like, ‘Yay, I get to work with Genie again!’ It was a really nice surprise.”
Is Esme Coming Back Again on ‘General Hospital’?
For the episode, Pohl said she played the role of Esme in a slightly different way, since the scene took place in Laura’s dream. Still, the “General Hospital” actress said she had fun with it.
“Getting to look at your character from a slightly different perspective and lens keeps things fresh and interesting,” Pohl added. “And it was really enjoyable and fun, getting to step back into Esme. I loved it! I missed that girl a lot.”
And when it comes to Esme possibly returning, whether in the flesh or as an apparition, Pohl teased, “I’m always open to talking and going from there.”
Pohl believes Esme’s death was greatly exaggerated, so anything seems possible at this point.
“I would like to think that she is on a little vacation somewhere,” the actress added. “Maybe she stuck around France, maybe she’s like, in Morocco on a camel somewhere. I don’t know, but I don’t think she’s dead. If there’s not a body, you’re not dead, is my rule of thumb [laughs].”
