Trista marked her and Ryan’s 22nd wedding anniversary on Saturday, December 6, with an Instagram post featuring a carousel of photos from each of their 22 years together.
“22 pictures for 22 years (well, really 23 pictures because I wanted the song to last longer!). 22 years of love, friendship, compromise, trust, forgiveness, laughter, safety, peace, adventure, passion, joy and so much more. No matter the ups and downs, I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else,” she wrote in the caption of her post. “I love you with everything, @ryansutter and can’t wait to celebrate 22 more. Happy anniversary.”
Trista & Ryan’s Romance Over the Years
Trista, then Trista Rehn, led the first-ever season of “The Bachelorette,” after ending as the runner-up on season 1 of “The Bachelor.” It’s during her season where she fell in love with Ryan. On the show’s season finale in February 2003, Ryan proposed to Trista, and they got married months later in December.
Trista and Ryan went on to welcome two children together: son Maxwell, born in 2007, and daughter Blakeley, born in 2009.
The pair have returned to reality television numerous times over the years. Between them, they’ve made appearances on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars,” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Fear Factor,” according to PEOPLE.
Trista and Ryan opened up about their marriage during a recent appearance on the Amy & T.J. podcast.
“Now versus then? Well, I mean, 21 years later, and two teenagers who walk in your room looking for Q-tips or whatever, you know, without knocking. It is, a bit more…” Trista said of how things have changed for them after being married for two decades.
Ryan chimed in that it’s “less spontaneous.”
“I think that we do a really good job,” Ryan said of making the pair’s relationship work, namely in the bedroom. “And honestly, I think that’s a part of why we’ve lasted so long. We’ve maintained that part of our life, despite having kids or everything else.”
“And sometimes the kids part makes it more fun,” he added. “Like you have to be a little bit more creative with things or quick or whatever. And so, there are advantages to that. But, I feel like I really push that end of things. And so if it weren’t for me, I’m not sure it’d be as good as it is now.”
