Michael Bublé surprised fans with an unexpected musical announcement during his recent appearance on the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, revealing he has been secretly working on a country music album. “The Voice” coach shared his enthusiasm for this new creative direction, expressing genuine excitement about exploring a genre that has influenced him throughout his career.
The Canadian crooner’s revelation came during what seemed like a casual conversation with Kelce, but quickly became a significant music industry moment. The jazz and traditional pop veteran explained that his love for country music runs deep, spanning his entire musical journey rather than representing a recent trend-following decision.
Working with respected Nashville producer Dann Huff, Bublé has crafted what he describes as a heartfelt tribute to country music’s rich heritage. The album remains unfinished, giving Bublé time to perfect his vision without external pressure to rush an immediate release.
Nashville Collaboration and Musical Vision
Bublé’s partnership with producer Dann Huff signals a serious commitment to creating authentic country music rather than merely experimenting with the genre. “I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about this,” Bublé confessed to Kelce. “I love country music, and I have loved country music my whole life. I went to Nashville, I have a producer named Dann Huff… and I have made a love letter to country music.”
The artist highlighted his intention to honor traditional country sounds rather than follow contemporary trends. “It’s old-school, it’s not like, modern, it’s my interpretation,” he explained. “I have never had an experience that has been better musically. I am so excited to put out this record — I don’t know if ten people are gonna love it, but I don’t care.”
His collaboration with Huff brings together an artist known for sophisticated vocal arrangements with a producer who has worked extensively with country stars. Huff’s recent credits include work with Riley Green, Brooks & Dunn, and Morgan Wallen. He has recent production work on numerous successful country projects. His portfolio includes Jon Pardi’s ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ and the Morgan Wallen and Thomas Rhett collaboration ‘Mamaw’s House.
Bublé acknowledged the influence of his “Voice” coaching colleagues in encouraging this musical exploration. He specifically mentioned the guidance of his fellow coaches. Kelsea Ballerini, Blake Shelton, and Reba McEntire helped him feel confident about entering the country music space.
The singer expressed pride in his artistic growth and readiness for this new challenge. “I feel like I’ve earned the right to make a beautiful record,” he shared with Kelce.
Artistic Evolution and Future Plans
The country album project represents a significant creative evolution for an artist best known for jazz standards and holiday music.
When pressed by Kelce about potential release timing, Bublé admitted the project remains in development. “I just know that it’s so good,” he responded. “It’s not even ready, I haven’t even finished it. But I’m telling you, this one is so special for me. It is so beautiful.”
Bublé also reflected on his established success in Christmas music during the podcast. He joked about his streaming revenue while expressing appreciation for classic holiday songs.
The country album announcement comes as various artists across genres explore country music’s growing mainstream appeal. Bublé’s approach appears focused on traditional sounds rather than contemporary crossover trends.
