“Fixer to Fabulous” stars Jenny and Dave Marrs are fully in the holiday spirit. The couple opened up about one family tradition they look forward to the most each year and one rule they refuse to break.
Jenny and Dave Marrs’ Favorite Holiday Tradition
The HGTV favorites opened up about their family’s holiday traditions, explaining that there’s one annual moment their kids love keeping alive.
“Christmas morning the kids wake up and come downstairs. They have to stop at the top of the stairs and take their picture. The teenagers love that!” Dave told Swoon in an interview published Sunday, December 7. “And then they all come down together, and we take turns opening gifts, one gift at a time, so we can all see what they got.”
Jenny added, “We go to church on Christmas Eve, we go to Dave’s parents’ [house].”
According to Dave, he and Jenny made a “rule” for their family when they welcomed their first child that they would “be at our home on Christmas morning.”
“So, we don’t go anywhere,” he shared.
The Marrses tied the knot in 2005 and welcomed twin boys, Nathan and Ben, five years later, in May 2010. They later adopted daughter Sylvie from the Democratic Republic of Congo in August 2013. During the lengthy adoption process, Jenny became pregnant. They welcomed daughter Charlotte in May 2014, two months before bringing Sylvie home. Their fifth child, son Luke, completed their family in June 2019.
Jenny and Dave Marrs Originally Turned Down HGTV
Now in season 7 of their hit home renovation series, the couple recently opened up about turning down the opportunity “multiple times” when HGTV first came knocking.
“We said no at the time because we really just we just were busy with our business, with our kids,” Jenny said during an interview with Extra TV ahead of season 7.
Dave added, “We’d just come through a pretty tough season of adoption, and we were just kind of coming out of the weeds where life was getting back to normal.”
The couple was reportedly concerned about the way their “little town” in Arkansas would be represented to HGTV viewers.
“We just we had a good business. We didn’t really have a desire to grow a lot more, [or to] be on television. So we yeah, we just said no originally,” Dave continued.
“You open yourself up to all the things. Like when you put your life out there, then you’re saying, ‘Okay, tell me what you think of that,'” Jenny explained. “It’s not very fun sometimes to be on the other end of that.”
“Fixer to Fabulous” first premiered in October 2019 and quickly became a fan favorite.
