Former “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk has created a special morning routine that reflects his practical approach to getting things done and his need for quiet time amid his busy life. The interior designer’s organized start to each day reveals how planned habits can help busy entertainment people manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
Berk’s morning approach focuses on both taking care of his body and getting his mind ready, including elements that help with the damage from years of hands-on design work. His routine demonstrates lessons he learned from a career that started with physical retail jobs and grew into television fame, where he needs constant energy and creativity.
The HGTV star’s morning schedule shows someone who knows how important it is to create calm before dealing with the craziness that usually comes with his work commitments. Instead of rushing into the day, he makes time to think and take care of his body, which sets a good mood for everything that comes next.
Wake-Up Time and Energy
Berk’s wake-up strategy involves a specific timing choice that prevents him from falling back into bed. “My alarm goes off at 5:47 a.m. If I do it at 5:45 a.m., I feel like I can hit the snooze. I’m like, I’ve got 15 minutes until 6 a.m. But at 5:47 a.m., I can’t hit snooze. It’s weird,” he explained to The Wall Street Journal.
His energy boost comes from an unconventional source rather than traditional coffee. “I don’t drink coffee anymore. My trainer a few years ago got me on Celsius, and now unfortunately I drink one every morning,” he shared. His preference leans toward specific flavors, though he finds the marketing somewhat amusing.
“I like any of the Vibes, the Peach Vibe, Tropical Vibe. Also, what is that? What is a ‘Peach Vibe’? How about just peach?” he noted.
His commitment to morning exercise stems from recognition that his earlier years didn’t prioritize health properly. “Every morning I go to the gym. I make a point of doing that because in my teens, 20s and 30s, I did not put my health first,” he told The Wall Street Journal.
Stretching and Planning
Berk dedicates significant time each morning to addressing the physical demands his career has placed on his body. “Then I spend a half-hour stretching. I owned furniture stores around the U.S. for years, and I moved furniture and sofas around by myself. It ruined my back,” he explained.
His preference for quiet during this recovery time reflects his need to balance the high-energy demands of his professional life. “I like things completely quiet. My life and my world is very loud. So in the mornings at home, I want no sound at all,” he shared.
The designer has also developed a unique system for managing daily tasks and mental clarity. “Around 7:30 a.m., I do a three-list rule, where I sit with a legal pad and I make three lists: Must do, should do and don’t you dare add this today,” he told the outlet.
His final list category addresses a common productivity challenge with characteristic humor. “The last one is for all the ideas that my brain thinks are urgent but are really just anxiety in a cute little outfit,” he explained.
This manner of organization helps him manage different projects, from his upcoming HGTV show “Junk or Jackpot?” premiering December 26, to managing his design business and various product lines.
