Clay Aiken Stepping Back Into the Spotlight: ‘I’m Not Dead Yet’ (EXCLUSIVE)

More than two decades after skyrocketing to fame on “American Idol,” season two runner-up Clay Aiken is about to do something he hasn’t done in ages: perform his first solo concert in a decade.

Aiken, 47, announced in an email to fans on December 4, 2025, that tickets are now on sale for a holiday show on December 21 in The Villages, Florida. The announcement comes several months after Aiken told EntertainmentNow that he was considering some holiday shows as a way to thank his fans.

When Aiken released his first album in 2003, including the original version of “Measure of a Man,” he had just spent months competing on “American Idol,” appearing during the most-watched finale in the show’s history. Nearly 40 million viewers tuned in live as Ruben Studdard won season two and Aiken took second place.

After hitting the road with Studdard for a 20th anniversary concert tour, Aiken put out his first Christmas album in 20 years, in 2024. That was followed by the summer 2025 release of an updated version of “Measure of a Man.”

Aiken told EntertainmentNow at the time that it was the first of several steps he was considering as he recommited to making new music. After wrapping up the tour with Studdard, he noted, “That’s kind of when I realized, ‘Wait a second, I do kind of miss this. I like this, and I want to do it again.'”

Clay Aiken Jokes He Needs to Prove He’s ‘Not Dead Yet’

The biggest learning curve for Aiken now is getting used to all the new rules and technology when it comes to releasing music.

“It’s a whole new paradigm,” he told EntertainmentNow. “Prior to the Christmas album, the last album I put out was 2010, which was before streaming existed. So it’s been an interesting learning experience.”

Talking about the possibility of putting on his own shows, Aiken said he’d want to do it as “a thank you to people who have continued to follow me and a reminder to those who haven’t that I’m not dead yet!”

“So with the end of this year and beginning of next year, I’ll be doing things that are far more original,” Aiken said.

Aiken has remained in the public eye since his “American Idol” journey, from his runs for political office in North Carolina (which he told EntertainmentNow he’ll never do again given the political climate) to appearances on various shows, including serving as a mentor on “Idol” and competing on “The Masked Singer” with Studdard in 2024.
