Beloved musician and “American Idol” mentor Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, celebrated his birthday on December 4. He turned 41, and he wanted to celebrate his special day by letting fans know how far he has come and how much his life has changed.
Jelly Roll Celebrates His 41st Birthday
The clip, which he posted on Instagram, shows him running. He also addresses the camera and reveals how different his birthday is from previous birthdays. Now, he goes for runs in the morning with a dear friend, where before he was using alcohol and drugs. It is an inspiring post that celebrates how far he has come. In the clip, he looks sweaty but also so healthy and happy. He shared his thoughts again in the caption, writing, “Go get some today y’all. Everything is possible through God.”
Fans and celebrities have flooded the comment section of his post to share their thoughts, with many praising the “Need a Favor” musician for how far he has come. “You’re the hero a lot of people need right now,” a comment reads. “It’s not about the weight you lose, but the life you gain! Jelly Roll Embraces Positive Changes
Those who have followed Jelly Roll’s story know this is not the first time he has spoken about the changes in his life. He has undergone an incredible transformation and completely turned his life around for the better. More recently, this transformation has included an incredible weight-loss journey, with the musician losing over 200 pounds.
He chose to lose weight and get fit publicly, which he discussed during an appearance on his wife, Bunnie XO’s, “Dumb Blonde” podcast. “I did this publicly for a reason,” he said. “I want to be honest about my struggles with it with people, I wore it for so long.” He continued, “I think that people that become as big as I became, when they lose the weight, they’re kind of ashamed. They’re so ashamed that they go out and lose the weight and they come back out and they don’t really know how to interact with the world looking different or feeling different.”
He wanted to inspire others, and his next goal is to be on the cover of Men’s Health magazine. What an incredible achievement that would be!
