Talk show host and “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson has shared her surprising take on leaving your Christmas tree up all year. In a sneak peek NBC shared, “Pluribus” star Rhea Seehorn admits on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that Christmas decor is a year-round sight in her home. “I don’t have to put up the tree and the ornaments because my partner has had it up for almost three years.”
The audience gasped in surprise, but Clarkson had a very different reaction. “I feel like you shouldn’t judge him,” the host said lightheartedly. As the singer explained, she simply closes the doors to her formal living room after the holidays and leaves the decorations in place. “And then you open it, and ‘Oh my God, there’s the Christmas village…'” Clarkson said. “I just leave it up.” Leaving Christmas decorations in place all year may not be for everyone, but Clarkson clearly makes it work for her home.
Clarkson has been a Regular at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting
GettyChristmas isn’t just an at-home celebration for Clarkson, who has become a regular face at the annual Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony. The singer even had the honor of counting down to the official lighting of the tree, and she shared a funny TikTok video of her prepping for the big moment in 2024.
She has also delivered memorable musical performances at the ceremony, including her stunning rendition of “Underneath the Tree” in 2023. Fans have loved seeing Clarkson at the helm of this fun event, but that is changing for 2025. As NBC announced, Reba McEntire will take on hosting duties for this year’s ceremony instead. Although fans have frequently seen the country star host awards shows and other events, this will be her first-ever time hosting the tree lighting.
Christmas is Always in the Background for Seehorn — Literally
GettyClarkson may have her year-round Christmas decor in a hidden room, but Seehorn’s is always in the background — literally. “Mine is in the background of like, all the Zoom [calls],” Seehorn admitted. “And everyone’s like, ‘It’s March.'” Clarkson couldn’t help but laugh, but she is still Team Christmas All Year, all the way. “I’m a single mom, I’m doing it myself!” she said in her own defense. She also lightheartedly defended Seehorn’s partner. “Don’t judge Graham, he’s great!” she said.
