Scotty McCreery & Lauren Alaina Reunite 15 Years After ‘American Idol’ — See Them Now

Nearly 15 years after Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina skyrocketed to fame as teens on “American Idol,” the country stars reunited for a sweet video, singing one of the songs they sang together on the show, the Randy Travis hit “I Told You So.”

On December 8, 2025, Alaina wrote in the caption of her video, “I’m forever thankful for those two kiddos who chased their dreams, so we can still do what we love today. I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years since our lives changed forever. I’m so grateful to have started it all with this guy.”


Fans Thrilled to See Reunion Between Scotty McCreery & Lauren Alaina

On the season 10 finale of “American Idol” in May 2011, Alaina was 16 when she was named runner-up to McCreery, who won the show at age 17. The two had a close bond during their season and, in the nearly 15 years since, they’ve both married, become parents, and enjoyed successful careers in country music.

In her December 8 video, Alaina posted a video of her and McCreery singing a duet of “I Told You So” during season 10, interspersed with clips of them singing the same song together recently. At the end, she blew kisses to the camera and exclaimed, “15 years!” McCreery said, “Wow, has it been that long!?”

The “American Idol” Instagram account replied in her comments, “We are SO thankful for Y’ALL chasing your dreams with US!!! 👏🙌😍”

Within 24 hours, nearly 50,000 fans had liked the post on Instagram alone, with many commenting about how happy they were to see the two together again. One commented, “omg stop 😭 my mclaina heart is so happy. i’m so glad you’re both still friends ❤️ but 15 years?! I feel so old.”

“Gosh this is so nostalgic,” someone else wrote. “I can’t believe it’s been 15 years. I’m so happy to see your future held so much success @laurenalaina ! 💞💞💞”

Alaina, who welcomed her first baby in June with husband Cam Arnold, has had a jam-packed career since “American Idol.” She’s had three number one hits, co-starred in Hallmark’s 2021 movie “Roadhouse Romance,” became a Grand Ole Opry member in 2022, and has a new hit with Chase Matthews in “All My Exes.” She’s touring with Rascal Flatts into 2026.

McCreery, meanwhile, has two young sons with his wife Gabi, and has also had a storied career in country music, named in 2024 as one of Billboard’s Top 100 Country Artists of All-Time. After scoring hits right out of the gate after “American Idol,” he took a risky five-year break from the industry to attend college, moved out of his childhood home, change record labels, write a book, and propose to Gabi, his high school sweetheart. a book, switched record labels, and proposed to his high school sweetheart.
