“American Idol” season 10 winner Scotty McCreery is opening up about how life has been treating him lately, and it’s been a standout year. The country star scored a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with “Bottle Rockets,” and he and his wife Gabi also welcomed their second son, Oliver, in September.
As McCreery recently wrapped up his “Two for the Road” tour, he’s been taking some much-needed time off to be with those closest to him, and sharing those precious moments with his fans.
Scotty McCreery Shares Sweet Moments With His Family
After wrapping up his 12-city “Two for the Road tour, Scotty McCreery is now savoring quality time with his family. Taking to Instagram, the “American Idol” winner shared several snapshots of his son Merrick Avery (who goes by Avery), kicking a soccer ball inside a stadium before a performance and visiting the zoo alongside his wife, Gabi Dugal.
Other photos showed Avery enjoying time with his dad on the golf course and even joining him on stage at one of McCreery’s concerts. The singer kept his caption simple, letting the pictures speak for themselves: “Recent family vibes 🍂😎,” he wrote, capturing just how much he cherished these moments with his loved ones.
In a Dec. 2 Instagram post, McCreery shared a video of Avery taking his first golf lesson alongside his dad. The footage showed a 3 year old Avery making an impressive swing, hitting the golf ball. The clip was set to McCreery’s song “Porch,” a heartfelt track that shares a story of unconditional love.
McCreery’s Journey to Fatherhood

Before his wife, Dugal, gave birth to their first son, Avery, he released a video for the track “It Matters to Her,” which shared moments of Dugal’s pregnancy and the couple getting ready to become parents for the very first time.
Speaking to Billboard, McCreery explained why he chose to dedicate his music video to documenting his wife’s pregnancy.
“I thought it would be a perfect thing to showcase our journey, pregnancy and that whole nine-month process,” he began.
“Gabi’s doing the hard work, or course, and it’s my job to help her and be there for her and just getting the house ready and getting ourselves ready, the dog ready, everything ready for Avery. The video came out better than I could have imagined. I’m excited for Avery to watch the video a few years from now and see what he thinks,” he shared.
The couple welcomed Avery in October 2022. Three years later, they welcomed a second son, Oliver, born in September. Sharing photos from the hospital on the day he was born, McCreery captioned them, “Oliver Cooke McCreery joined our family on September 18th 🥹🩵 Can’t imagine life without him, we love him so berry much!! 🫐”
