Rachel Zoe Breaks Silence on Divorce From Rodger Berman After 26 Years and Why She Has ‘No Regrets’

Rachel Zoe is entering a new chapter — personally, professionally, and on Bravo. The fashion designer turned reality star is opening up more than ever about her split from husband Rodger Berman, revealing why she ultimately chose to walk away from their 26-year marriage and how the decision centered entirely around their sons.

The newest “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star confirmed the separation in September 2024. Now, more than a year later, she is sharing deeper insight into the moment she realized the marriage was no longer serving their family.

“I started to feel like this may not be the most advantageous situation for our children,” Zoe told People. “Every decision I make, every lens that I look through is through a lens of my children… ‘What are they going to think? What are they going to say? How will this affect them?’”

The mom of two — who shares sons Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 11, with Berman — emphasized that she believes staying in an unhappy marriage does more harm than good.

“I have never felt that people should live together and stay together unhappy,” she said.

For Zoe, the decision to end the marriage was painful but necessary. And she’s not looking back with guilt.

“I don’t suffer from guilt of not having given it everything I could have,” she explained. “I don’t suffer from feeling like it was a failed marriage. Having been married for 26 years, I would say that three-quarters of that was amazing.”

When asked if she wished she had made the decision earlier, Zoe didn’t hesitate.

“I think if you ask any woman who has left a situation, they would probably say they should have done it sooner,” she said. “But at the end of the day, I ultimately did what’s best for the kids.”

Zoe and Berman married in 1998 and became one of fashion’s most recognizable power couples. As she stepped into single life, she leaned into the emotional adjustment — and the growth it required.

“Life is life-ing really hard on all sides right now,” Zoe admitted. “I have to stay positive because if I break, everything breaks.”

Rachel Zoe Talks Joining RHOBH and Why She’s Avoiding Dating Apps

Amid her divorce, Zoe is also returning to reality TV as the newest cast member on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 15. It’s her first time back on Bravo since “The Rachel Zoe Project” ended in 2013.

“I loved being in an ensemble,” she told People. “It was really nice for it not to just be on me and about me. I’m so much more interested in other people’s lives than I am my own.”

Zoe also teased that the women bonded behind the scenes — even if the trailer suggests otherwise. “We’re all going through stuff,” she said. “It’s nice that we had each other.”

As for dating? Zoe is not shopping for love online.

“I’m not swiping,” she told E! News at BravoCon 2025. “It’s happening or it’s not. I’m meeting you and this feels right, or it doesn’t.”

Though Zoe has remained tight-lipped about her romantic future, she hinted she’s open to the possibility — just not in app form.

The fashion icon is now ready to share more of her life with viewers when RHOBH season 15 premieres Thursday, December 4 at 8/7c on Bravo, with episodes streaming next-day on Peacock.
