Lindsay Arnold is sharing a vulnerable moment from her third pregnancy. The former “Dancing With the Stars” pro revealed on November 29 that she experienced heavy first-trimester bleeding, a scare that left her anxiously waiting for answers until doctors could confirm her baby was safe.
Arnold Reveals Scary Bleeding Episode During Disneyland Trip
GettyArnold told fans on Instagram Stories that the bleeding started during a family trip to Disneyland.
“I started bleeding pretty heavily the first day we were [in Disneyland],” she wrote, as reported by Parade.
“For reference this happened to me around the same time in both pregnancies with Sage and June.. both were subchorionic hematomas! I had a pretty good feeling that’s what was happening again but it was still scary because you just never know.”
She said the timing added another layer of worry. “And it was frustrating because it happened the first day we got there on a weekend so I knew that I would have to just wait it out until I could get home and check with my doctor to make sure everything was ok!” she explained.
The Former ‘DWTS’ Pro Says She Tried to Stay Calm for Her Daughters
Arnold said her focus was on keeping the trip light and joyful for her daughters, even as she tried to manage her own fear.
“I tried to stay positive and not worry about it too much. No matter what it was there was nothing I could do about it in that moment so just tried to enjoy our time at Disney with the girls,” she shared.
Follow-Up Tests Confirmed a Subchorionic Hematoma
Once Arnold returned home to Utah, she met with her doctor right away. She underwent bloodwork and an ultrasound, which confirmed the source of the bleeding.
The diagnosis was another subchorionic hematoma, the same complication she experienced during both of her previous pregnancies. A few weeks later, she began bleeding again and went back in for another ultrasound. The baby continued to be healthy.
