DWTS Alum Opens Up About Healing From ‘Breakup’ Heartbreak After Season 34

Now that season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars” is over, all of the contestants are transitioning to whatever they plan to tackle next. Whitney Leavitt is soon headed to Broadway, but she recently opened up about the healing process she’s navigating after her DWTS elimination.

Whitney Leavitt Is Healing From Her Heartbreak

On December 2, Leavitt chatted with People about her experience on “Dancing with the Stars.” As fans know, Leavitt and her partner, Mark Ballas, were eliminated in the season 34 semi-finals.

“I miss it a lot,” Leavitt told the media outlet about being away from “Dancing with the Stars.”

She continued, “I miss seeing everyone in the studio. I miss dancing every day — like you are thrown into it and it is every single day, hours every single day, and then it just ends, it just stops.”

Leavitt added that being eliminated from “Dancing with the Stars” felt like a “breakup.” She admitted she is “still healing” from it.

“I just feel like something was ignited in me being a part of that experience, being a part of that show,” Leavitt explained. She gushed that she loved being surrounded by people who supported and believed in her. Leavitt noted she will “forever be so grateful for it.”

The DWTS Alum Received Her Great ‘Chicago’ News Just Days After Her Elimination

Leavitt may miss dancing at the “Dancing with the Stars” studio, but her dancing days are not over yet.

She will go on to play Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of “Chicago” in New York City, beginning in February. People shared via Instagram that Leavitt didn’t have to keep her Broadway gig a secret for very long.

Leavitt flew to New York City just two days after her “Dancing with the Stars” elimination. Discussions had already been underway about having Leavitt join the show. However, during her trip to New York City, she did an in-person audition.

That was the “final part that I needed to do,” Leavitt revealed. Ahead of that, she had already been sending producers tapes of her vocals and acting.

The day after her audition in New York City, Leavitt learned she had landed the part in “Chicago.” She may not have won the “Dancing with the Stars” Mirrorball trophy, and she may feel like she’s working through a heartbreaking breakup, but she is clearly excited about what lies ahead.
