A rising Latin music star is gone at just 22 years old after a fatal shooting. TMZ reported on November 24, 2025 that the songstress, who went by Delarosa (styled DELAROSA), was found deceased of a gunshot wound in Northridge, Los Angeles. It happened shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Initial coverage of the incident was shared by KTLA, and may have incorrectly stated the singer was 20.
The artist, whose full name was Maria De la Rosa, was ambushed by two male suspects who approached her parked car and began firing. That’s according to a statement TMZ says they got from LAPD officials about what witnesses say they saw. Delarosa was pronounced dead after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
Initial coverage of the incident was shared by KTLA around November 22, and may have incorrectly stated the singer was 20.
After the news video was published, a commenter revealed that the victim was Maria de la Rosa before the news of her identity was officially announced. They wrote on YouTube, “She was a sweetheart. Her name was Maria. Beautiful soul. Her mom and dad are beyond devastated, her brother can’t stop crying.” Another commenter replied to confirm, “Maria De La Rosa,” and showed their sadness with a wilting flower emoji and a red heart.
The suspects are still at large, according to news reports.
Fans Reacted to the Loss of Delarosa
On TMZ’s Instagram post announcing the news, fans reacted to the loss of the young up-and-comer. One wrote, “She was beautiful.” Another said, “So young. RIP Bonita,” calling the vivacious artist “pretty” in Spanish.
“Descansa en Paz Reina,” wrote another grieving fan, calling Delarosa a queen.
KTLA says the musician appeared to be working on new music shortly before her death, with one of her last Instagram posts reading, “Ocupando cocinando en el Stu … Ya es tiempo.” In Spanish, the message means “Busy cooking in the studio … It’s about that time.”
Delarosa Is Not the Only Young Singer to Pass Away This Year
2025 has seen the loss of too many young stars. One of those was T-Hood, a rising young rapper from Georgia who died in a shooting at 33 that took place at his home.
Another artist we lost young this year was DJ Unk, best known for his hits “Step 2” and of course the iconic “Walk It Out.” He died of a heart attack at 43, per Billboard.
