A popular cooking creator on TikTok shared some bittersweet news about her twin pregnancy in the late evening of Wednesday, November 26.
Tineke Younger, who goes by her nickname “Tini” (pronounced “Teeny”) on the app, revealed that one of her twins has passed away just before 36 weeks. The other twin was safely delivered, per the update.
The 24-year-old, who has amassed 12 million TikTok followers and competed on season 2 of Gordon Ramsay‘s “Next Level Chef,” shared a gripping series of photos documenting the birth.
Chef Tini Reveals 1 of Her Twins Passed Away
Tini captioned an Instagram post the night of November 26, “This isn’t the post I ever thought I would share once the twins came, unfortunately earlier this week we lost our sweet girl Arya (Baby A) We made it to almost 36 weeks we were so close to being done and getting the girls to term but I had a placenta abruption and we lost our sweet girl.”
The viral creator, whose famous mac and cheese recipe racked up over 100 million views last Thanksgiving, went on to confirm the good news that the surviving twin “is doing really well and breathing on her own.” She called both the tiny girls “so beautiful” before promising that “Arya will always be celebrated.”
Five days before the babies’ arrival, she shared a shopping vlog with her husband, Antoine Wright Jr.
Chef Tini Is Taking a Break From TikTok After Baby Loss
After announcing she lost one of the twins, Tini told her fans she will be taking some time off from social media. The Maryland native wrote, “I will be taking a break, not sure for how long but I promise I will be back. I love you guys.”
Tini also said she will make sure to honor the memory of the baby that was lost, whom she named Arya. She wrote, “Arya will always be celebrated, her sister will know she is a twin and has a beautiful twin sister.”
What Is Placenta Abruption?
What happened to Tini’s baby? The star chef said a placenta abruption is what caused her to lose one of her twins shortly before hitting the 36-week mark.
Placenta abruption is when the placenta separates from the uterus, per the Cleveland Clinic. This can can decrease the amount of oxygen and nutrients the fetus gets, per the institute. It can also cause blood loss.
The news that Tini was pregnant with twins came eight months after her wedding to Wright on November 12, 2024.
The pair tied the knot in a beautiful beachfront ceremony. Afterwards, they shared a sweet Spiderman-style kiss.
