Supportive Fans Stand Up For Kandi Burruss After Todd Tucker’s Divisive Comments In Resurfaced Video

Last Friday, November 21, musician and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss announced she is moving forward with a divorce from her husband, Todd Tucker, in an exclusive statement to People. Kandi told the magazine it was “a difficult and emotional time,” before revealing she was focusing on being the best mother she can be. She also told People she will focus on coparenting the two kids she and Todd share, 9-year-old Ace and 6-year-old Blaze, “with love and respect.”

Six weeks before the split became public, Todd posted a final loving photo with Kandi.

Now, fans are sending Kandi support after an interview has resurfaced in which Todd claims the whole marriage was Kandi’s idea, and he didn’t have any particular desire to tie the knot with the “No Scrubs” songwriter. Read on for details.

Todd Says Getting Married Was Kandi’s Idea

A few days after the news broke of Todd and Kandi’s impending divorce, a prior interview resurfaced on social media in which the interviewer asks how Todd felt about Kandi in the beginning. “Were you thinking about marriage at all?” asks the interviewer, to which Todd replies, “Na. I just thought she was cool. I just thought, ‘She’s cool. She’s real chill.’ I liked her energy.”

Todd also said he admired Kandi for her curvaceous backside, before continuing, “Yeah, the marriage thing didn’t come until the prayer thing, and her telling me to make a decision. I was like, ‘Oh, I like that. That’s hot. Who she thinks she is?'”

Kandi jumped in at that point to laughingly say, “Well I mean, come on. I didn’t have time to be playing games with you.”

Fans Defended Kandi After Todd’s Marriage Comments Resurfaced

“The correct answer was ‘I was happy to marry her, she’s wonderful & I love her’ not whatever he just said,” one fan commented on the resurfaced interview clip.

Another chimed in, “No need to worry about Kandi, the marriage was her idea and so is the divorce. She will be fine.”

In another tense moment that took place the night before the wedding and played out for Bravo’s cameras, Kandi revealed to Todd that her family had suggested calling off the wedding over Todd’s hesitancy to sign a prenup. “It sounds like, ‘Either you sign it, or I don’t wanna marry you.’ That’s not fair. Let’s talk,” Todd was seen telling his bride-to-be.

Todd insisted the prenup was “not proper,” even though Kandi said she had two lawyers on the job to write up the agreement.

In light of the divorce news, fans supported Kandi’s decision to stick by her instincts. “I’m glad she forced a prenuptial agreement because whew!” one exclaimed.

“She deserves so much better,” said another.
