Xscape co-founder and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss announced she was moving forward with a divorce from her husband of 11 years, Todd Tucker, on Friday, November 21. Kandi said she would focus on coparenting with Todd. The 49-year-old said in an Amazon Live stream, “We have beautiful children together, so we are trying to make this transition as smooth as it could possibly be for our kids. That is our main concern. We are keeping it very friendly,” according to people.
Now, in a new twist, Todd Tucker has filed for primary custody of the pair’s two school-aged children, who are nine and six. Read on for details.
Todd Asks for Custody
In a December 1 report, US Weekly says Todd “is demanding primary custody” of his two kids with Kandi in divorce court. In his response to Kandi’s divorce petition, they the outlet says Todd states the kids are “are currently in his care and residing with him in Georgia,” while Kandi handles “out-of-state work obligations.”
In the documents, Todd insists he deserves primary custody because Kandi’s work “will continue to require her to be away from the children for at least the next several months.” The “No Scrubs” writer is currently gearing up for a limited Broadway run in the show “& Juliet” that will run from December 11 to March 8, per her site, Kandi Koated Entertainment.
In the meantime, Kandi remains the laser-focused business woman she’s always been, while still of course finding time to be an amazing mom. As soon as Thanksgiving wrapped up, Kandi was on social media promoting a Black Friday deal for Bedroom Kandi, her line of adult accessories. But before that, on November 22, the mom of three cuddled up to her daughter, Blaze, as she celebrated the littlest child’s birthday with a princess-themed party.
Kandi wrote in the video’s caption that the celebration brought her “some much-needed joy” before adding, “So many family & friends all came to show love to Blaze & have the best time! Thank you to everyone who came. Love yall!”
Todd was also present at the party.
Kandi Assured Fans Todd Was ‘Not Left Out’ of Family Thanksgiving
Around Thanksgiving, Kandi posted a happy photo from her large family gathering that featured several familiar faces including Kandi’s 23-year-old daughter Riley Burruss, who stars on “Next Gen NYC.” Also featured were Todd and Kandi’s two children, Ace and Blaze, and Todd’s adult daughter, Kaela.
Kandi’s mom, Joyce, and her Aunt Bertha, who is beloved for her charismatic appearances on “RHOA,” was also in the shot. However, notably absent from the picture was Todd.
But Kandi explained Todd wasn’t excluded from her Thanksgiving celebration. She commented on the post, “Before anyone assumes anything Todd came earlier to eat with us but he wasn’t there for the pic. He was not left out or anything like that.”
