Hallmark debuts season 13 of “When Calls the Heart” on January 4, 2026, and fans are ready. The network just shared a sneak peek of what lies ahead, and one major teaser quickly got viewers buzzing.

Will Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) finally propose to Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow)? That seems to be the suggestion in the Hallmark sneak peek.

Nathan Is Warned, ‘Don’t Mess This Up’

On December 5, Hallmark posted the new video sneak peek on Instagram. The post’s caption read, “From romance to rekindling friendships, there’s so much in store for everyone in Hope Valley!” A follow-up comment read, “#Hearties, are you ready?!”

The “When the Heart Calls” sneak peek had something for everyone. Everybody’s “favorite community” returns in January with “open arms and open hearts.”

The network has previously confirmed that Brooke Shields and Melissa Gilbert will both appear in season 13 of “When Calls the Heart.”

Gilbert plays Georgie McGill, a former love of Bill Avery’s (Jack Wagner). She first popped up in season 12, and it was clear the two still shared some sparks. “When Calls the Heart” spoilers hint that the cordial relationship between McGill and Avery may shift toward the romantic in season 13.

As for Shields, she appeared on the show before. She returns as Charlotte Thornton, whom viewers first met in 2016. While she initially showed up to meet Elizabeth and check in on her son, Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing), her upcoming reunion comes under much different circumstances.

Jack has died, and Elizabeth now needs medical treatment for Little Jack. While Charlotte reconnects with the family, the “When Calls the Heart” sneak peek reveals she’ll have a key moment with Nathan.

“Don’t mess this up,” she whispers to Nathan as she hugs him.

In the Instagram sneak peek, toward the end of the video, a voiceover teases, “and the moment you’ve been waiting for.” This happens as Elizabeth and Nathan are shown walking arm and arm in a field.

Hallmark Fans Are Counting Down to January 4

Another big teaser emerged during Hallmark’s special titled “The Hallmark Christmas Experience: A Hometown Holiday Christmas Special.” McGarry and Krakow appeared in the special via a pre-taped clip, which was shared on the show’s Instagram page.

Krakow teased that season 13 is “our best season yet,” and she hinted there are “so many surprises.” Just before the end of the clip, McGarry held up a small wrapped box and declared, “I’ve got to get this diamond to Jack,” before jokingly dropping the box.

Will Nathan incorporate Little Jack into a proposal for Elizabeth?

Hallmark fans did not hesitate to make their feelings about the upcoming season known. In the comment section of Hallmark’s Instagram sneak peek, people gushed over the video and the return of “When Calls the Heart.”

Weeks before season 13 of Hallmark Channel’s hit show “When Calls The Heart” debuts, the network announced on December 2, 2025, that the show has been renewed for a whopping 14th season.

According to press materials sent to EntertainmentNow, the new season will film in 2026 and air in 2027 with core cast members returning, including Erin Krakow, Kevin McGarry, Jack Wagner, Chris McNally, Pascale Hutton, and Kavan Smith. In addition, former cast member Lori Loughlin will return after years away from the series.

Season 13 of ‘When Calls The Heart’ is Already Set for a January 4 Premiere

“When Calls The Heart,” a period series that takes place in the fictional town of Hope Valley, debuted in 2014. The cast spent much of the summer and fall of 2025 filming their 13th season.

In November, Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton, and McGarry, who plays her love interest, Mountie Nathan Grant, appeared in a promo on the Hope Valley set in their 1920s costumes to announce that the 13th season would premiere in January. Their punny banter played up McGarry’s real-life mustache, and Krakow appeared with her own costume mustache on a stick.

McGarry later gave Hearties a more anxiety-producing tease while aboard the Hallmark Christmas Cruise, where he told over 4,00 fans during a panel on the ship that the characters will face a major stressor in season 13.

He said, “There’s an event that happens in the beginning of season 13 that kind of shatters Hope Valley and the surrounding area, and kind of sets off a journey for every character that’s gonna run the entire season.”

Fans & Stars Have Been Hoping For Lori Loughlin’s ‘When Calls The Heart’ Return

Loughlin, who first rose to fame as Aunt Becky on “Full House,” played beloved “When Calls The Heart” character Abigail Stanton from 2014 to 2019. Hallmark cut ties with her during season six and removed her from the cast following her arrest and eventual jail sentence for her involvement in the largest college admissions scandal in U.S. history. 

But in recent years, many fans and former castmates have expressed hope that Loughlin will be forgiven and allowed to return to Hope Valley. Krakow, who also stars in 2025’s â€œChristmas Above the Clouds,” told Us Weekly in November, “I love Lori Loughlin, and I love the character she created, Abigail Stanton” and that her return was “something I’ve been hoping for for years and years.”

“I’m very much a fan of hers and a friend of hers, so I really hope that it’s happening.”

Michelle Vicary, Head of Programming at Hallmark Media said in a statement upon news of Loughlin’s return, “At its core the Hallmark brand is about hope, positivity and connection, which is also the central theme of ‘When Calls the Heart.’ We felt that Season 14 was the right time to continue Abigail’s story with her return to this beloved series.”

Brooke Shields & Melissa Gilbert Are Also Returning to ‘When Calls The Heart’

Hearties will have to wait a year before they see Lori Loughlin return to their screens as Abigail Stanton. But with season 13, they’ll get to see two other returning and beloved cast members.

Brooke Shields announced in October that she would return to the series for season 13. Shields first appeared on “When Calls The Heart” as a guest star in 2016, playing the mother of Daniel Lissing’s character, Mountie Jack Thornton.

She arrived in Hope Valley on horseback to check on her son, who went on to marry Elizabeth, and father “little Jack” (Hyland Goodrich). But in the season five finale, Jack died in a landslide during a training mission with other Mounties.

Another returning guest star will be Melissa Gilbert, whose character debuted in 2025. She revealed in the summer that she’d be back, too.

When Ben Rosenbaum landed his first role as a Hallmark movie leading man in “The Christmas Cup,” he knew longtime Hallmark Channel star Rhiannon Fish had already signed on as the movie’s leading lady and was “very excited” to work with her.

But the longtime “When Calls The Heart” star told EntertainmentNow ahead of the movie’s premiere on November 30, 2025, that he had no idea some of his WCTH castmates — including Pascale Hutton, Natasha Burnett, and Jaeda Lily Miller — would be joining him on the set.

Ben Rosenbaum Actually Surprised Andrea Brooks With Her Role in ‘The Christmas Cup’

Rosenbaum, who’s played Mike Hickam on WCTH since it premiered in 2014, announced at the Hearties Family Reunion event in September that he would be starring in his first Hallmark Christmas movie and that several WCTH castmates would appear in “The Christmas Cup,” too.

“I was very excited to hear about Rhiannon,” he told EntertainmentNow. “And then, with regard to the ‘When Calls’ cast, Pascale got to surprise me with the news when she agreed to come and do the cameo. And Natasha and Jaeda were a surprise to me as well.”

Meanwhile, Brooks’ appearance in the movie was actually a surprise to her. Rosenbaum explained, “Andrea’s story is a funny one because she was actually in Kelowna, where we were filming the movie, for a wedding. She texted me just to say that she was in town and see if I would be available to get a coffee or something like that. And I said, ‘I’m not available because we’re filming all the time for this, but you could come on down to set and join the movie!'”

“It was really fun,” he continued. “It was that type of collaborative set throughout the director, Robin Dunne, and our producers on it were just great start to finish, allowing us to ruminate (on scenes), give input and make suggestions, and really participate in the crafting of the movie. So it was a really rewarding process in that way, and Andrea has a really fun little pop-in cameo.”

Ben Rosenbaum Says ‘The Christmas Cup’ Was a Definite Departure for His WCTH Castmates

In “The Christmas Cup,” Fish plays an injured Marine who’s sent to recover at home, where she gets roped into leading her hometown team in the Christmas Cup competition against a neighboring town, with help from Rosenbaum’s character, a local firefighter.

Rosenbaum beamed about Fish but also said his WCTH castmates’ roles are a definite departure from their characters on the long-running series.

British-born Burnett, for instance, is “still doing an American accent, which is not her natural accent, but her it was a very different version of an American accent, obviously much more modern. So that was a really distinct change for her, and Jaeda as Starla is gonna steal some scenes. She’s so bubbly and
fun and funny in this and really, like, takes a character that felt like it could have been a caricature, and made it feel totally real, like a real person in the world who’s just a little bit extra dramatic, a little extra.”

Rosenbaum wasn’t the only one impressed by the cast and crew on the project. On November 28, Fish shared a preview of the movie on social media and wrote, “It was an honour to work alongside this extraordinary crew. Witnessing the way you showed up for each other was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I will carry that love with me forever ❤️”

As for the difference between Rosenbaum’s WCTH character and Quinn, his “The Christmas Character,” the actor said, “I think for me, it was more about turning down some of the dials that I turn up for my kick him with Hickam. I really turn up specific kind of parts of my own personality and make him a bit of a human puppy dog, whereas for Quinn, it (took) a lot more grounding. I wanted to feel sort of the weight of his responsibility and his stature in the town as a leader and someone with some authority as the captain of the firefighters. So that was more about kind of grounding into his boots, and finding more stillness than I think Mike Hickam has.”

“The Christmas Cup” premieres on Hallmark Channel on December 5 at 6 p.m. Eastern time, and will be available to stream via Hallmark+ the following day.

There must be something in the air on the “When Calls the Heart” set. Earlier this month, two other stars of the show — Kevin McGarry and Kayla Wallace — announced their pregnancy on social media. At the time, Erin wrote, “I can’t wait to snuggle this little McGarry!!! 🥰”

The two couples are good friends and often post photos of their time together. At the beginning of the month, Erin posted a heartwarming message in honor of Kayla’s birthday.

“Yesterday was [Kayla Wallace’s] birthday, but she spent all night asking us questions about OUR lives,” Erin captioned a series of photos of the foursome. “Because despite it being HER special day, and despite her being BFF with Billy Bob, and despite her sitting across from Anna Wintour at Paris Fashion week – she’s as selfless and down to earth as they come. Season 13 of ‘When Calls the Heart’ Premieres on January 4, 2026

On November 20, a new post on the Hallmark Channel’s Instagram page revealed that “When Calls the Heart” season 13 will debut on Sunday, January 4. In addition, the episodes will be available the following day on Hallmark+.

The video began with Erin Krakow, dressed as her character, Elizabeth, wishing everybody a Merry Christmas. She added, “We’ve got a very special gift for you.”

Next in the video was Melissa Gilbert, who is returning in season 13 as Georgie. Gilbert teased, “Guess who’s coming back to Hope Valley?”

While “When Calls the Heart” fans may have thought that Gilbert was teasing her own return, that wasn’t the case. Brooke Shields appeared in the video and exclaimed, “It’s me!”

Shields added, “I’m so happy to be returning to ‘When Calls the Heart.'”

The video ended with Krakow insisting that fans won’t want to miss what’s ahead.

As EntertainmentNow previously shared, a teaser shared by Hallmark during the premiere of Krakow’s “Christmas Above the Clouds” revealed that season 13 would debut in January.

Having “When Calls the Heart” premiere on January 4 follows suit with when Hallmark fans got to see the premiere of season 12. That season premiered on Sunday, January 5.

WCTH Fans Are Eager to Get Started

Word of Shields’ return to “When Calls the Heart,” as well as the return of Gilbert, had been previously revealed.

On October 2, People reported that Shields would appear on season 13. She reprises the character she played a decade ago, Charlotte. She is the mother of the late Jack, thus she is also the mother-in-law to Elizabeth and grandmother to Little Jack.

Shields will appear in three episodes of season 13.

In June, Wagner revealed to TV Insider that Gilbert would be back for season 13 of “When Calls the Heart” as well. Gilbert and Wagner’s characters shared a kiss in season 12, and he hinted that there is more to come.

Fans of “Where Calls the Heart,” often referred to as “Hearties,” made their excitement known.

“Running into 2026 like a track star…LET’S GOOOOOOO SEASON 13,” one fan commented on Instagram.

McGarry is best known as WCTH’s leading man Nathan Grant, but Wallace’s character, Fiona Miller, has appeared far less on the long-running Hallmark show since the actress joined the cast of the Paramount+ series “Landman” in early 2024.

On November 11, 2025, Wallace joined the “Landman” cast for the season two premiere in New York, and McGarry jetted there to support her after spending four days at sea on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise. In red-carpet interviews, Wallace gushed about what a good dad her Mountie hubby will be.

Wallace, who plays hard-nosed lawyer Rebecca Falcone on “Landman,” posed on the red carpet with the show’s cast, including Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, and Sam Elliott. Wallace cradled her baby bump with black leather gloves over a creamy satin mini dress.

McGarry was spotted in a sweet video (above) in which he stepped out of the shot so his expectant wife could shine on her own.

Speaking to reporters on the red carpet, Wallace told “Entertainment Tonight” how lucky she feels, explaining, “This has been such an incredible year. Last year was so amazing. Wallace then lovingly added, “But, like, all the fatherly advice? I think he’ll be alright with that kind of stuff. He’s a pretty wise and wonderful guy. I’m very lucky.”

Wallace and McGarry haven’t revealed when their baby is due, and have done a great job keeping the pregnancy a secret. In early October, the actress wore various oversized coats to hide her baby bump during Paris Fashion Week.

But other than that trip, Wallace told ET, “I’ve been on my couch in sweatpants, like hiding a little bit. So it wasn’t that hard, but I’m happy to share the wonderful news (now).”

Acknowledging that her pregnancy happened to “work out” in between filming “Landman” seasons one and two, Wallace told ET that her biggest cravings have been pineapple and cucumbers — though not together.

Erin Krakow & Kevin McGarry Spill Details on ‘When Calls The Heart’ Including an Event That ‘Shatters’ Hope Valley

The promo didn’t give a specific start date, but on November 8, McGarry and Krakow separately teased what fans can expect in season 13, once their characters return to Hope Valley after seeking out medical help for Elizabeth’s son, Little Jack, diagnosed with diabetes in season 12.

“Well, we get to explore a bit of what their life looks like as they’ve left Hope Valley,” Krakow told Swooon. “But of course, we can’t keep them away from our special little town for too long. So obviously, we bring them back to Hope Valley, and we get to really learn more about them as a team, as partners, as potential coparents together.”

She continued, “There’s a lot of really beautiful moments where we get to see how they help each other, parent Allie and Little Jack, and there are some really just gorgeous, cinematic romantic moments between them as well.”

McGarry’s update was a bit more anxiety-producing. Currently aboard the Hallmark Christmas Cruise with 4,500 fans, he was filmed during a panel revealing that the characters will face a major stressor in season 13.

He said, “There’s an event that happens in the beginning of season 13 that kind of shatters Hope Valley and the surrounding area, and kind of sets off a journey for every character that’s gonna run the entire season.”

Fans have been hoping for confirmation that “When Calls The Heart” would return soon, especially since in 2024, season 12 premiered on January 5.

Hearties flooded social media within minutes of the promo airing to share their excitement and how much they loved the cute announcement.

“Dad jokes AND Mom jokes in S13,” one fan quipped, and another wrote, “Can’t wait!!!! Cmon January, I mean I’ll do Christmas first then January 😂”

Until January, fans can get their fill of past seasons on Hallmark+ and tune in for Christmas movies featuring their favorite “When Calls The Heart” stars, including Krakow’s new “Christmas Above the Clouds” and her real-life husband Ben Rosenbaum’s “The Christmas Cup,” premiering on November 30.

Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas officially began with “Mistletoe Murders” on October 17. With Halloween now behind us, the holiday film slate is ramping up. One movie that fans have been highly anticipating is “Christmas Above the Clouds,” premiering on November 8.

The film reunites “When Calls the Heart” star Erin Krakow and Tyler Hynes, two Hallmark Channel favorites who last starred together in 2021’s “It Was Always You.” “Christmas Above the Clouds” reimagines Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” with a twist viewers will love.

In “Christmas Above the Clouds,” Krakow plays Ella Neezer. A selfish workaholic, she decides to fly to Australia rather than deal with Christmas. She discovers that her ex, Jake (Hynes), is also on the flight. His presence forces her to confront issues she’d rather stay buried. However, the unexpected arrivals of the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future ensure that’s not going to happen.

“The writing was really so smart, and the comedy was tight and clever, and it really allowed for a lot of transformation within the story,” Krakow told Swooon. “I was, of course, excited to reunite with some of my favorites, Peter Benson, who was directing, and when I learned that Tyler might be willing to join us, I was thrilled.”

“We’ve been wanting to reunite on a project for some time,” she added. “We filmed ‘It Was Always You’ back in 2020, so it’s really been a while. It didn’t disappoint. It was great to get to work with him again.”

Erin Krakow Hopes to Reunite With Tyler Hynes Again

Krakow began filming for “Christmas Above the Clouds” just before the cast and crew of “When Calls the Heart” returned to film Season 13. She loved playing a character that was so different from the kind and generous Elizabeth Thornton.

“That is not a role that I’m typically given the opportunity to explore,” she admitted. “So getting to be a little harsh and selfish and direct, I guess, was an interesting new color for me to get to play.”

Even better, many of the “When Calls the Heart” cast and crew worked on “Christmas Above the Clouds.” “It was really very fun and funny to get to see their response to me in a role that is just so different from Elizabeth, right,” Krakow explained. “I think everyone got a bit of a chuckle out of that new side of me.”

As for Hynes and Krakow reuniting again in the future, “The Wedding Cottage” star has a solution. “Maybe if we start talking about that project now, we can get it going so that it doesn’t happen five years from now,” Krakow suggested.
