UK ‘Celebrity Traitors’ First Victim Revealed & They Can’t Get Over the Deception

On the Thursday, October 9 episode of the UK’s ‘The Celebrity Traitors,’ the first victim of the deceptive eponymous trio was revealed — and it’s safe to say they weren’t happy to be the first person ejected from the show.

On the previous evening, during the opening episode of the celebrity spin-off of the British version of reality series ‘The Traitors,’ the traitors were revealed as being television presenter Jonathan Ross, 64, singer-songwriter Cat Burns, 25, and comedian Alan Carr, 49.

They had been tasked with “murdering” one of the other contestants. One of them had to rub their fingers on a poisonous lily, then touch the face of their victim without arousing suspicion. A slow-acting toxin would then take effect gradually over the next 24 hours.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD — This piece will recap the second episode of ‘The Celebrity Traitors UK’ and reveal who the first victim.

Alan Carr Committed the Deadly Deed

Alan Carr was deemed to be the person best suited to the task, as his fellow traitors suggested he was the most tactile, and therefore the one most likely to naturally touch someone on their face.

Comic Carr opted to use his friendship with a fellow participant to his advantage, pretending they had a hair on their face and brushing it away, dooming them to an early exit.

The victim? Singer-songwriter Paloma Faith.

Faith, 44, was none the wiser as her friend nonchalantly made physical contact with her cheek under the guise of doing her a favor.

The following morning, when everyone arrived for breakfast, the celebrities were delighted that it appeared nobody had been killed off. However, they were quickly informed by host Claudia Winkleman that the victim’s identity would be revealed as part of that day’s mission.

Later that day, after the traitors had chosen two additional celebrities to lay in coffins alongside Faith, the group had to collectively guess which one of the three had been murdered. With actor Nick Mohammed, 44, and comedian Lucy Beaumont, 42, alongside Faith, the celebrities guessed that Beaumont was the first victim. They were shocked to find out they were wrong, and mourned the “passing” of Faith — a huge bubbly character on their short journey up until that point.

Faith Made Her Feelings Known on ‘The Traitors’ Official Podcast

Following her ejection from ‘The Celebrity Traitors,’ murder victim Faith appeared on ‘Uncloaked,’ the show’s official podcast, to speak with host Ed Gamble. There, it was revealed to her which three celebrities were the traitors and, therefore, responsible for her demise.

Upon being informed that Ross was one of the traitors, Faith exclaimed, “Jonathan?! The geek!” She then referred to him as an expletive, before admitting that “he’s really good at it” because she had “no suspicions at all.”

Then came the reveal that Burns was one of the traitors, prompting Faith to say, “Cat?! Oh my god!” She continued, “So these people just killed me out of malice, because I didn’t suspect any of them.”

Finally, Faith was told that her real-life great pal, Carr, was the final traitor. She responded as you might expect, saying, “Alan?! These are like three of my favorite people that I was sure… I hope they never call me again. And I mean that.”

Gamble then suggested it just meant they were doing a great job as traitors, which Faith reluctantly admitted, saying, “Yes! But bang out of order.”

Faith then summarized her feelings, saying, “I feel really even more betrayed now. I feel betrayed by Jonathan and Alan. And actually Cat, because she’s on the same record label as me and she should have some loyalty.”

It was, of course, all taken in good humor, and we’re sure Faith will be keenly watching the rest of the series to see how her fellow participants get on.

The next episode of ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ airs on Wednesday, October 15, at 9 p.m. GMT on BBC One.
