Efron and King’s romance began back in high school, long before he made a name for himself on reality TV. “We’re from the same hometown,” Efron shared during his March 2025 appearance on “The Viall Files” podcast. While the couple hasn’t revealed exactly when they met or started dating, Efron has shared glimpses of their life together on Instagram as far back as October 2016.
Now, nearly a decade later, the couple’s bond remains strong — even as Efron’s star continues to rise. During his conversation with hosts Nick Viall and Natalie Joy, Efron hinted that marriage could be in their future. “She knows the answer,” he said with a laugh when asked about proposing. “Courtney’s so down to earth. She’s not going to put a deadline on me.”

“She loves Nick and Natalie’s podcast,” Efron said. “I wouldn’t even know about it if it weren’t for her.” That bit of insight came in handy during his time on “The Traitors,” where he crossed paths with “Vanderpump Rules” star Tom Sandoval.
Efron told Cosmopolitan that his first words to Sandoval were, “You look really familiar.” He recalled, “I had no idea who he was. And he’s like, ‘Yeah, you probably know me from…’ and started talking about his show.” Efron laughed as he remembered telling his girlfriend about the interaction later. “I said, ‘Oh, I think I listened to a Nick Viall podcast with you.’ And Courtney was like, ‘That wasn’t the podcast you should have said. It wasn’t his best moment.’”
Even though King stays out of the spotlight, her influence is clearly felt in Efron’s growing TV career — and fans can’t help but root for the down-to-earth couple who started as high school sweethearts and are now navigating Hollywood together.
