Longtime “90 Day Fiancé” star Elizabeth Potthast revealed the sad news that her father, Chuck Potthast, has passed away.
She shared the sad news in an Instagram post on Sunday, Nov. 22. She showed an image of Chuck alongside her children she shares with Andrei Castravet.
“Two weeks ago, tragedy struck our family and it has left us completely shattered. My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven. We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him,” she wrote.
She added, “Please respect our privacy during this extremely difficult time.”
Elizabeth’s sister Becky also shared the news in her own tribute to her late father. She shared a sweet photo of the two from her wedding day.
“Two weeks ago on this day my world became distorted into a place I don’t understand,” she wrote. “My father Chuck went home to be with The Lord. The pain is still more than I can bare so this is all I can write.”
While the cause of his passing was not revealed, Chuck went in for hernia surgery in September. The surgery was supposed to last only around three hours, but ended up being more than eight hours as doctors found his stomach walls had collapsed.
He went in for the surgery to fix the hernias due to previous cancer operations he had had in the past.
Tributes Pour In
As the news broke, tributes quickly poured in.
“Omg!! I got the chills! I’m so very sorry …. he was loved by all the 90 day watchers. Sending you all peace, strength and comfort,” one user wrote.
Another expressed on just how much he loved his family. “I think we can all agree Chuck was one of the most loving dads ever! He loved his kids and grand babies so much. This breaks my heart,” someone else noted.
Others praised how much he cared for his children and wasn’t afraid to disagree with them on the popular TLC show.
“I loved watching him, he was always so real and loved his children like I love mine❤️. I will keep your family in my prayers for peace and comfort,” another added.
Chuck Was Often on the Popular TLC Show
Chuck appeared on many episodes with his daughter as her “90 Day Fiancé” journey was documented with her husband Andrei.
He last made an appearance on the current season of “90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?” where he traveled to Andrei’s hometown of Moldova.
Andrei purchased an investment property and wanted to show both his wife and Chuck the property.
While the property was in poor shape, Chuck tried to find the positives in Andrei’s investment. The news only got worse as it was revealed that Andrei lost around $75,000 on the property.

I was thinking about Chuck the other day and thought he must have been feeling too bad to be on the show. I always liked the shoes he was on. He was a great family man. I am sure he is and will be missed.
