’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Calls Reports ‘Fake News’ Amid Heartbreaking Loss

“90 Day Fiancé” star Elizabeth Castravet has had enough of the “fake news” circulating about her father Chuck Potthast’s death.

On Sunday, November 22, Elizabeth announced on Instagram that her beloved father had passed away but did not share any details about the cause of his death.

“Two weeks ago, tragedy struck our family, and it has left us completely shattered,” Elizabeth captioned a sweet family photo with Chuck. “My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven. We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him. Please respect our privacy during this extremely difficult time.”

Reports Claim Chuck Potthast Passed Away Due to Cancer

Shortly after the sad announcement, reports have surfaced online alleging that Chuck passed away following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Multiple outlets noted that Chuck previously opened up about his health struggle on “90 Day Fiancé” and on social media.

“My surgery was supposed to be about three to four hours long to fix hernias from my previous cancer operations that had developed,” Chuck shared a health update on Instagram on September 14. “Once they got in there, they seen that my stomach wall had completely collapsed, so they had to fix that, which they did.”

’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Elizabeth Castravet Cries Foul Over ‘Fake News’

Meanwhile, Elizabeth cries foul over claims that Chuck passed away due to cancer. The “90 Day Fiancé” star is clearly not happy with these reports, calling them “fake news.”

Elizabeth took to her Instagram Stories to set the record straight once and for all.

“UNTIL my family and I make an official statement regarding my dad, any articles or ‘reports’ circulating right now are completely FALSE,” the reality star wrote. “I am utterly disgusted and completely appalled. The fact that it’s 2025 and outlets are still publishing fake news during a time of deep grief is beyond disturbing.”

Elizabeth went on to call out the outlet and asked that the article in question be taken down immediately, threatening to press charges.

“Imagine mourning the loss of your dad and then waking up to fake stories being made about him,” Elizabeth said in another post. “No. [Expletive] not. We won’t stay quiet about this.”

As of this writing, Elizabeth and her family have yet to make an official statement regarding Chuck’s cause of death.

    • Maybe they are shocked and just want to know what happened. Nothing wrong with that. Chuck said in his own words he had hernias, a collapsed stomach, and cancer.
