TLC star Elizabeth Castravet has shared a heartfelt and hopeful message for her family and supporters as they begin to heal following the death of her father, Chuck Potthast, late last month.
On Saturday, November 29, roughly a week after publicly announcing his passing, Elizabeth posted a new update to social media.
The post included a recent video of her and husband Andrei Castravet with their two children, and carried a message of emotional honesty, gratitude and determination to carry on.
“I’ve never had to navigate something quite as difficult as grief before,” she began. “Andrei and I are doing everything in our power to make sure our kids remain happy and on a normal routine.”
She bravely added how much pain she is going through since her father’s passing.
The TLC star added, “I try to think of doing the things we normally do but then catch myself feeling guilty along the way. I try to smile and feel better but honestly deep down I’m hurting. What are some ways you’ve dealt with grief and what helped you get through?”
Elizabeth Shared the News of Chuck’s Passing on Social Media
In their initial joint post shared on November 23, Elizabeth and Andrei revealed that Chuck had passed away about two weeks earlier.
Elizabeth described him as “my sweet, loving, and caring dad” and said the loss had left the family “completely shattered.” They asked for privacy while they navigate their grief.
Her sisters — some of whom previously appeared on “90 Day Fiancé” — have also publicly mourned.
One sister posted a heartfelt tribute calling the loss “a pain [she] can’t bear,” while another shared she was still reeling and asked for understanding as she processed the grief privately.
False Reports Surfaced After Chuck’s Passing
After the sad news was revealed, Elizabeth took to her Instagram Stories to address false reports about her late father.
“UNTIL my family and I make an official statement regarding my dad, any articles or ‘reports’ circulating right now are completely FALSE,” Elizabeth wrote. “I am utterly disgusted and completely appalled. The fact that it’s 2025 and outlets are still publishing fake news during a time of deep grief is beyond disturbing.”
Chuck had previously confronted serious health challenges publicly, including past cancer treatment and major surgery earlier this year.
Fans of the show remember him as someone who often sought to heal long-standing family rifts and to support Elizabeth’s journey.
