Ahmed confessed in an interview on “Podcrushed” on Thursday, August 28, that he was exhausted during filming. He reflected on the scary experience, saying, “My body just kind of, like, gave up on me. I was extremely exhausted.”

He was hospitalized “for a brief period.” He says it was to help him “really try and regain my strength.”

At the time of the incident, he was scared and confused about whether he would ever be able to regain his full strength. “It was super scary and intense and quite prolonged actually,” he said. “Something very silent and very intense had happened to me, and I wasn’t getting better quickly.”

He continued, “For a minute, I was like, ‘Am I ever going to get my life back?’” Ahmed reflected on this time in his life, referring to it as a “deep kind of grief and fear and terror and yet, also a kind of tremendous liberation and gratitude and acceptance.” Having to go through this experience was humbling and reminded Ahmed of the fragility of life.

“When you’re kind of humbled in that way, when something is taken away from you, you become even more acutely aware of everything you have — and a bodily level, on a health level, you realize like, you don’t control anything, man,” he said in an honest confession. “You don’t control a single thing. You don’t even control your body.”
