Prince William Makes Sweet & Silly Appearance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Prince William brought a royal surprise to the ballroom this week. The future king made a lighthearted cameo on “Dancing with the Stars”, cheering on wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin during the show’s 20th anniversary episode.

Royal Surprise for Robert Irwin

Prince William surprised fans on Tuesday during “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34. He appeared via video call to support contestant Robert Irwin and his partner, Witney Carson, who performed a Foxtrot to Leona Lewis’ “Footprints in the Sand.”

William called Robert “twinkle-toes” and wished the duo luck. He signed off with a friendly wave, leaving both performers visibly shocked. People magazine reported that the moment became an instant highlight online.

Before the call, Robert told his sister Bindi Irwin and her daughter Grace that he had expected to attend Prince William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil. Instead, he said he had to tell the royal he was “still here” competing on the show. People reported that the family moment made his performance more meaningful.

Robert shared that the song choice carried extra emotion. Bindi danced to the same track during her winning season, dedicating it to their late father, Steve Irwin. “There’s a lot of weight,” Robert said during rehearsal. “I really want it to be our best dance yet.”

Emotional Dance and Judge Reactions

After an emotional performance, Bindi joined her brother onstage as a photo of their parents appeared on the ballroom floor. Robert ended the dance in tears while the crowd applauded.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said Robert earned a “royal seal of approval.” Carrie Ann Inaba called the performance “powerful and profound.” Derek Hough, who previously partnered with Bindi, said he felt “honored” to be part of the Irwin family’s story. He called Robert “this generation’s beacon of joy.” Guest Tom Bergeron added that he was “trying not to get choked up,” recalling meeting Robert as a child.

The judges awarded the pair the season’s first perfect score of 40 out of 40.

Social Media Reacts

Fans quickly shared their excitement online. Hindustan Times reported that many focused on Carson’s stunned reaction when William mentioned Robert by name. Viewers called the cameo “unexpected” and “adorable.”

The episode also featured tributes to former contestants and celebrated 20 years of “Dancing with the Stars.” William’s cheerful call added humor and heart to a milestone night, reminding audiences that even royals enjoy a good dance moment.

Prince William’s warm, playful appearance may be brief, but it turned a regular competition night into one of the show’s most unforgettable episodes.
