Hallmark’s upcoming Countdown to Christmas film, “We Met in December,” premieres on Thursday, November 27, at 8 p.m. Eastern/ 7 p.m. Central (with encores expected throughout the season). ‘We Met in December’ Was Filmed in Canada, Including at a Beautiful Hotel that Fans Can Visit

Although the storyline is set in Chicago, “We Met in December” was actually filmed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. And there’s at least one key location that fans can experience for themselves.

Many scenes were filmed at the Fairmont Château Laurier, which doubles as the movie’s Christmasy “holiday hotel,” 4Filming reported. This hotel may look familiar to you, because it was also a focal point for “Fit for a Prince” and “A Christmas Carousel.”

The Fairmont Chateau Laurier is a luxury hotel in Ottawa that takes reservations all year round.

Brenda Ngo, who also stars in the movie, posted on Threads that “the shoot was a blast!” She wrote that Reeser “definitely kept me on my toes with all the improvising in our scene. 😄.”

In a recent interview with Survived the Shows, Niall Matter discussed “We Met in December” and what went into making the film.

Hallmark’s synopsis reads: “On an unexpected layover in mid-December, Annie Lane and Dave Weeks meet as strangers in a beautiful hotel all decorated for the holidays. It’s love at first sight, and they end up having a magical night of sharing hopes, dreams…and a perfect kiss. But when they fail to exchange numbers and miss each other the next morning, Annie and Dave fly back to Chicago with no easy way to track the other one down. Autumn Reeser plays Annie, one half of the duo whose meet-cute leads to a holiday-long search. Reeser is a familiar face to fans, with movies like “A Glenbrooke Christmas,” “Christmas Under the Stars,” “A Bramble House Christmas,” the multi-movie “Wedding Veil” franchise, “Junebug,” “The 27-Hour Day,” and more.

Niall Matter is Dave. His many Hallmark films include works like “When I Think of Christmas,” “A Christmas Together With You,” and “Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater,” “Holiday Hotline,” “Come Fly With Me,” and the “Family History Mysteries” franchise.

Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page are teaming up for a brand-new romantic comedy that’s already giving major vacation goals. The film, “You, Me & Tuscany”, hits theaters April 10, 2026, and serves up love, laughs, and stunning Italian views. Originally announced under the working title “Italianna”, the project was first reported by Deadline earlier this year before officially landing its new name.

Directed by “Marry Me” filmmaker Kat Coiro and produced by Will Packer, “You, Me & Tuscany” follows Anna (Bailey), a free-spirited woman who impulsively settles into an empty Tuscan villa—only to find out it’s owned by Michael (Page), the cousin of the home’s actual owner. Their unexpected meeting sets off a series of adventures, romantic tension, and plenty of wine-soaked charm.

Bailey told People that she instantly fell in love with the script, describing it as “a really feel-good movie.” “I was very intrigued by Anna’s storyline—by her vision and passion that she has and the wants and goals for herself,” she said.

For Page, the project didn’t take much convincing. “Will [Packer] and I had a real short conversation, and then he just texted me, ‘Tuscany in the summer?’ with a question mark. End of message,” the “Bridgerton” actor recalled. “It’s getting to hang out in this aspirational world with Halle Bailey and just live through being in love in this removed environment where you get to go discover yourself away from your everyday life.”

From “Italianna” to “You, Me & Tuscany”

When the movie was first announced, it went by the title Italianna and was described as a “vibrant, cinematic love story” blending romance and adventure. The screenplay comes from Ryan Engle, based on an original idea by Engle and Kristin Engle, and reunites Coiro with Universal after her hit rom-com “Marry Me.”

Producer Will Packer, whose credits include “Girls Trip” and “Think Like a Man,” has a knack for creating crowd-pleasing love stories, and You, Me & Tuscany looks to be no exception. With its postcard-worthy setting and modern romantic twist, the movie is already shaping up to be one of next spring’s most anticipated releases.

Bailey, who’s fresh off “The Little Mermaid” and “The Color Purple”, continues to show her range on screen. Page, who rose to fame as the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton, most recently appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag alongside Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett.

The pair first met at the 2025 Met Gala, before filming even started, and Bailey admitted she was nervous to approach Page. “I saw him wearing all red and thought, ‘Oh my gosh, cool,’” she said. “You’re nervous, but I was like, we’re doing a movie together, so I’m just gonna go up.”

Their connection was instant and carried into filming. “The chemistry starts straight away,” Page told People. “You start feeling out how the other person is, and it’s just knowing that you can feel safe in someone else’s company.”

Shot entirely on location in Italy, the experience was as dreamy as it sounds. Bailey said it felt “like living inside a screensaver,” while Page joked that she was “Olympic-athlete-level fast” during one of their chase scenes.
