One of the stars of the reality television series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has explained what happened following their arrest earlier this year. In November, several outlets reported that court documents indicated that Chase McWhorter has been arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.
He has now spoken out publicly and given his side of the story to fans of the show.
Chase McWhorter Explains DUI Arrest
In a video he shared on TikTok, McWhorter first confirmed that the reports of his arrest were correct before attempting to explain exactly what had happened in the run-up to his legal troubles.
He said, “I was pulled over for driving under the influence, had ingested substances that I shouldn’t have, and got behind the wheel of a car, an extremely short-sighted, selfish, dangerous decision.”
McWhorter revealed that he was attending a pool party with a group of friends and was planning on stopping at the location, meaning he wouldn’t have to drive. However, when a fight later broke out, the reality star chose to leave to avoid any potential drama, making the “few miles” journey back to his home.
He went on to say, “I should’ve Ubered, but for some reason decided to drive home and that decision alone kills people every single day, so I understand the severity of it. Obviously, it was humiliating having to be pulled over and taken in. Terrible look for me, and I’ve experienced so many lows on this app, as you guys know.”
“So obviously, it’s an inward problem that I need to work on. It’s not a reflection of my parents, who have raised me much better than that. It’s not a reflection on the people around me, who know how stupid that is and how selfish it was.”
Chase McWhorter Made Sure His Former Wife Was Aware
During the video, McWhorter also revealed that he was quick to tell his fellow “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” co-star Miranda McWhorter what had happened, giving her all of the information about the incident “the next day.”
“Unfortunately, I have been a disappointment to her a number of times throughout the time that she’s known me, both as a partner and now as a co-parent, so that sucks,” said McWhorter in his TikTok video. “And I am truly sorry for making that horrible decision and putting people in real danger because of it.”
The pair were previously married for seven years in total and share two children together from the marriage. They broke up in 2024, announcing that they were splitting in August.
Throughout the video, McWhorter remained contrite and explained that he was suffering both personally and legally from the situation. He also explained that he would be involved in a beer commercial in the near future, noting that the timing may seem inappropriate but that it was filmed prior to the arrest.
