After a decade away, the beloved reality series “Alaska State Troopers” is back, this time on a brand-new network. Fans can tune in to see the familiar faces and high-stakes drama that made the show a cult favorite, now set against even bigger challenges and fresh storylines. With new episodes premiering in January, viewers can relive the excitement and discover what’s changed and what’s stayed the same since the series first captured hearts over ten years ago.
‘Alaska State Troopers’ Is Returning
An all-new season of “Alaska State Troopers” is coming, and it will premiere on a new network, as A&E made the big announcement. The new season will kick off on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
The reality TV show originally ran for eight seasons on the National Geographic Channel (Nat Geo) from 2009 to 2015. Now, after 10 years off the air, the fan-favorite docuseries has found a new home on A&E.
What Is ‘Alaska State Troopers’?
For those who never watched during its initial run on Nat Geo, “Alaska State Troopers” is a show that takes an immersive look at the men and women responsible for policing America’s most remote and challenging frontier.
The show is set across thousands of miles of rugged wilderness. It follows the Alaska State Troopers as they patrol highways, frozen rivers, and tiny villages that are only reachable by air or boat.
The state is larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined, yet there are just 400 troopers responsible for patrolling the entire state. Every call carries high stakes, whether it’s criminal takedowns or life-saving search-and-rescue missions.
This new season continues where things left off in 2015. It will capture the unforgiving conditions, huge distances, and unpredictable emergencies that come up in the daily life of law enforcement in Alaska.
Where to Watch This New Season?
For the return of “Alaska State Troopers,” the episodes will follow along with troopers as they navigate the state. They will be showing those long summer daylight hours to the deep freeze of winter, all while the troopers respond to cases that are as vast and unpredictable as the state itself.
New episodes will air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, starting on January 7, 2026. In addition to airing on A&E, the new season will be available on demand. Fans can also stream through the A&E app and AETV.com.
In addition, the full library of episodes from previous seasons will be accessible to viewers as well. The show has remained a cult favorite for more than a decade. Now it’s being given a rare second life.
