Mama June Shares Heartfelt Tribute on 2nd Anniversary of Daughter Anna’s Passing

Mama June Shannon is once again publicly remembering her daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell on the second anniversary of her death.

On December 9, 2025, Shannon shared a heartfelt video on social media in which she addressed the ongoing pain of losing Anna — and urged fans to help keep her memory alive.

The reality star said, “Just ‘cause I’m not on here boo-hooing doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days. Don’t mean I’m not a [explicative] emotional wreck half the damn time.”

She made it clear that—even if she isn’t constantly publicly mourning—her daughter’s absence weighs heavily every day.

She had a lengthy message as well.

“This is something that I never thought that I would have to deal with and if you were a mom that’s also a child,” she wrote. “I am sorry and you understand I’m going through a loss of anyone is hard and people take death, different and different ways but for me I’m gonna be honest is a daily struggle, emotionally and mentally but I get up and do what I need to do and some days I don’t wanna do that.”

Remembering a Loving Mother & Daughter

Cardwell died at age 29 in December 2023, after a battle with cancer.

She was a mother of two young daughters, Kaitlyn Cardwell and Kylee Cardwell, both of whom have been deeply affected by her passing.

To honor Anna’s memory, Shannon asked followers to engage with Anna’s social media pages — “write on her Instagram, her Facebook, her TikTok” — to ensure her legacy lives on and to shower love on her grieving daughters.

One of the most poignant memories Shannon recalled was a family trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee — one of Anna’s final joyful moments.

Despite critics at the time questioning the decision to travel while Anna was ill, Shannon emphasized the importance of those memories.

“We had so much fun there and made so many memories,” she said.

Grief, Memory — and Moving Forward

Shannon admitted that losing a child has been the “hardest thing” she’s ever experienced — even harder than her past struggles.

As part of their healing process, she continues to act as a guardian for Anna’s eldest daughter, Kaitlyn. Meanwhile, Kylee is being cared for by her father.

In addition to her social-media tribute, Shannon honored Anna’s memory in private ways — such as recreating favorite recipes and preserving family rituals the late mother once cherished.

These gestures serve as small acts of remembrance and acts of love.
