Vanna White Not Ready to Retire from ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Vanna White, the longtime co-host of “Wheel of Fortune,” says she is not ready to retire despite decades on the show. At 68, White is approaching her 45th anniversary with the daytime game show and has renewed her contract through the 2025-26 season, telling E! News she is taking her future one year at a time.

“I’m not ready to retire,” White said. “I love what I do, and I enjoy working with the crew and the new host. Every day on set still feels exciting.”

White joined “Wheel of Fortune” in 1982 and quickly became a household name alongside host Pat Sajak. The two worked together for more than 40 years, creating one of television’s most enduring partnerships. When Sajak announced his retirement in 2023, White admitted she had considered retiring as well, but ultimately decided the show was not finished with her.

Adjusting to a New Era

White’s decision to stay coincided with Ryan Seacrest taking over as host for the 42nd season in 2024. She praised Seacrest for his professionalism and positive energy. “Ryan brings a fresh approach, but he is also respectful of the show’s history,” White told E! News. She added that their longstanding friendship made the transition easier and helped maintain the show’s familiar rhythm for contestants and viewers.

White has navigated many changes on the show, from manual letter boards to digital puzzle screens. She said she enjoys adapting to new technology and continues to find satisfaction in connecting with contestants and audiences alike. White also noted that fan support keeps her motivated. “Seeing how excited people are to watch each episode reminds me why I stay,” she said. She added that receiving letters and messages from viewers across generations has been deeply rewarding.

Looking Ahead

Despite her commitment to the show, White said she hopes to spend more time off-screen when she eventually retires. She mentioned playing golf, traveling, and enjoying quiet days with family as potential post-television plans.

White’s continued presence on “Wheel of Fortune” reassures longtime fans who have watched her maintain a steady presence through decades of television changes. In a world where entertainment careers often fluctuate, White’s dedication shows that some things remain constant. Her influence on television and popular culture is undeniable, with many viewers considering her a comforting and iconic figure.

“I take it one year at a time,” White said. “But I am happy to be here and look forward to what the future holds.”
