MTV star Rob Dyrdek — who hosted the hit show “Ridiculousness” for 46 seasons– broke his silence following the show’s shocking cancellation.
Rob Dyrdek Reacts to ‘Ridiculousness’ Cancellation
Dyrdek, 51, opened up about the show’s ending days after MTV announced it was pulling the plug after nearly two decades.
“I just want to say thank you to every single person who ever watched any of my shows. 19 years, four different shows, 2034 episodes,” Dyrdek began in a video shared via X on Monday, November 10. “I’m just so grateful. I’m grateful to MTV.”
He went on to thank “everybody that ever played a part in me developing and creating these shows,” as well as all the fans over the years.
“This was divine timing. I had really evolved over these last few years. And I was growing out of having that ball cap and standing on the ‘Ridiculousness’ stage and dancing,” he continued. “You know, shooting the television show, what I was most proud of was how deeply efficient I got.”
Dyrdek — who began hosting the comedy clip series in 2011 — explained that in the early days he was only able to film two shows a day, as each episode took two to three hours. In recent years, however, he “got that all the way down to 25 minutes” and was filming up to 12 episodes in a day.
“Really it was because I was so committed this time mastery goal of mine. Of understanding all of my time and optimizing my time. That’s what really led to the show being so efficient, but my overall quality of life being so amazing,” he continued.
Rob Dyrdek Announces His Next Career Move
The “Rob & Big” host isn’t slowing down with the end of his long-running series, however.
Dyrdek revealed he’s launching his passion project “the same week that [his] run on MTV ends.”
He introduced fans to his “time intelligence platform” Existence.
“I know that the reason I live such an amazing life and such a high-quality existence is because I account for all my time,” he said. “I created this so that everybody could easily account for their time, optimize their time, and thus optimize their quality of life.”
MTV announced on October 31 that no new episodes of “Ridiculousness” would be produced. The series will come to an end in early 2026 as previously recorded episodes air.
