MTV’s long-running reality competition series “The Challenge” airs another episode tonight, and here’s everything that happened.
Last week, Aneesa Ferreira and Jake Cornish faced off in the elimination against Theo Campbell and Adrienne Naylor. Unfortunately, in the words of host TJ Lavin, Aneesa and Will “couldn’t get it done” and were sent home. With six teams left, there’s still plenty of game before the final.
Today’s Daily Challenge
Today’s daily challenge once again chained our duos together. From there, they had to run into a pitch black cave and find their game boards, each filled with thousands of numbers. A spooky, deep voice called out numbers for the challengers to find. However, due to the dark nature of the cave, someone from each team had to light a match, the only light with which to see their game board. Initially, production only gave each team six matches. If they wanted more matches, they had to waste valuable time venturing out of the cave.
During the challenge, Michaela Bradshaw twisted her ankle, putting her ability to finish the challenge and her entire game in jeopardy. Luckily, she and her partner, Cedric Hodges, were able to run out of the cave before all of their opponents. Michaela did not let her ankle stop her from giving the challenge her all.
Whichever team got the most right answers in the shortest amount of time won the challenge. Although Michaela and Cedric finished first, they didn’t have as many correct answers on their game board as Sydney Sagal and Turbo Çamkıran. In fact, Cedric and Michaela got the least amount of correct answers. They will be one of the two teams competing in tonight’s elimination.
Tonight’s Elimination Vote
GettyPrior to the elimination vote, Michaela told her ally, Nany Gonzales, that she preferred to go into the elimination against Aviv Melmed and Yeremi Hykel, even though they had been working together all season. From Michaela’s perspective, Aviv and Yeremi were too dangerous to run against in the final, and she figured she would have a better chance at beating them in elimination than in the final.
Nany agreed to Michael’s plan, and with Theo and Adrienne and Olivia Kaiser and Will Gagnon also willing to vote for Aviv and Yeremi, it seems Michaela will most likely get her wish. However, Yeremi floated the idea of staking a claim on someone else’s partner, which could prevent him from going into the elimination.
Yeremi ultimately decided he did want to stake a claim. He opted to fight for Olivia to be his partner, despite her gripes. This means Yeremi goes into an instant competition against Will to determine who will get Olivia as a partner. If Yeremi loses, he and Aviv will automatically go into the elimination. If Yeremi wins, he and Olivia may be voted in anyway.
This “stake a claim” competition was exactly the same as the previous one, when Gabe Wai faced off against Justin to determine who would be Nany’s partner. Yeremi and Will had to run up a hill and solve a three dimensional puzzle. The first person to make it back down the hill wins.
Yeremi won the competition, making him Olivia’s new partner. This means Will and Aviv are now partners. Theo and Adrienne voted Aviv and Will into the elimination, as Theo and Nany made a deal not to vote for each other. Will and Justin made a deal day one to keep each other safe, so Will wanted to vote for Olivia and Yeremi. Plus, Nany and Will developed a romantic connection in the house. However, Aviv wanted to wait and see where Nany and Justin’s vote fell.
Because Nany couldn’t tell Will she’s vote to keep them safe, Will decided he would side with Aviv and vote Nany and Justin in. Nany and Justin then returned the favor. Yeremi and Olivia voted for Nany and Justin. This caused a tie, so each duo was given the chance to re-vote. When no one changed their vote, TJ went to a coin toss.
Will and Aviv lost the coin toss and will go into elimination.
Tonight‘s Elimination
CBSTonight’s elimination was called “tight quarters” and featured two actual airplane bathrooms. In the tight space, the duos had to work together to collect puzzle pieces for two different puzzles and solve both puzzles in the shortest amount of time.
Michaela and Cedric asked for production to check the accuracy of their puzzle before Will and Aviv. However, they were missing a puzzle piece and therefore had not accurately solved their two puzzles. Even with this gaffe, Cedric and Michaela were able to solve their puzzles before Aviv and Will, securing their safety and sending their opponents home.
