Teyana Taylor has revealed the one thing that grinds her gears on Thanksgiving.
The singer, songwriter, actress, model, dancer, choreographer, and music video director spoke to E! News about her bugbear on the national holiday.
34-year-old Taylor, whose career highlights include choreographing the video for Beyoncé’s 2006 single “Ring the Alarm,” appearing on MTV shows like “My Super Sweet 16” and “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 2025’s comedy action thriller “One Battle After Another,” believes Thanksgiving should be a labor of love. That’s reflected in what she told E! News.
Teyana Never Wants to See a Caterer on Thanksgiving
GettyTeyana Taylor gave her exclusive interview to E! News at ELLE’s 2025 Women in Hollywood Celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California, on November 17.
At the event, Taylor received an honor alongside the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Emily Blunt, Chase Infiniti, Rose Byrne, and Hailee Steinfeld.
After being introduced by actress Kerry Washington, Taylor took to the stage and delivered an inspiring speech about the power of sisterhood and community
Her interview with E! News at the event revealed that she’d be rolling up her sleeves and getting her hands dirty to prepare a homemade meal for her family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving this November 27. She absolutely refuses to bring in any outside help.
Taylor said, “I don’t ever want to see a caterer for Thanksgiving. That’s one thing I just cannot do.”
She added that she doesn’t look down on anyone who doesn’t take a hands-on approach, but it’s something she will always do, saying, “It’s not knocking anybody else, but, for me, I feel like that’s the time to cook with your family and see them, feel them, laugh with them and create new memories.”
Taylor’s Thanksgiving Guests Are in for a Treat

It sounds like Teyana Taylor’s Thanksgiving guests are in for a treat this year — especially considering she’s currently enrolled in culinary school to take her kitchen skills up a notch or two.
Taylor said, “I’m cooking everything. Turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, a little bit of collard greens, candied yams, baked macaroni and cheese. We go all the way there.”
The “Google Me,” “Maybe,” and “Gonna Love Me” singer also revealed that her daughters Iman “Junie,” 9, and Rue Rose, 5 — whom she shares with her ex-husband, former NBA star Iman Shumpert — will be enjoying a special dish alongside the more traditional food she has in store.
She said, “My kids love Cajun pasta, so I gotta make Cajun pasta. We cook a little bit of everything.”
We hope Teyana Taylor and her family have the most wonderful Thanksgiving this year. By the sounds of what the star has in store for them, there’s very little doubt that they will.
