Tom Holland Announces Plans to Open Free London School After Revealing ADHD Diagnosis

Known for his starring roles in films like Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man” trilogy and Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of “The Odyssey,” Tom Holland is no stranger to the spotlight. That being said, since his rise to fame the A-lister has been hard at work behind-the-scenes on a number of independent ventures that have nothing to do with his silver screen career.

Last October the 29-year-old actor launched his own non-alcoholic beer brand, BERO, after opening up with his struggles with alcholism. More recently, Holland became the face of LEGO’s new “Never Stop Playing” campaign, which focuses on ensuring that adults maintain their ability to engage in the child-like wonder and fun.

Speaking on his role in the new LEGO campaign, which similarly stars his brothers, Holland revealed that he is setting his sights on the academic world for his next business venture.

Holland’s Free School to ‘Rival Any Private School’ in the UK

Describing himself as an “ambitious person” with plenty of plans in the work beyond his film career, Holland opened up about his ongoing plans to collaborate with The Brother’s Trust charity to create a free-to-attend private school in his hometown of London.

“I have an end goal of what I’d like to do, which is essentially that I’d like to buid a school with the best facilities that any school in London can offer, but is totally free and rivals any private school in the country,” Holland told LadBible

While the actor’s “lifelong goal” is still in the early stages of its conception, Holland added that he envisions the potential school catering to those who otherwise “might not be able to afford” a private education in London.

Holland is reportedly working with The Brother’s Trust, a charity started by his own parents, Nikki and Dominic Holland, to bring the passion project to fruition. Tom similarly runs the charity alongside his parents and his three younger brothers, Sam, Harry and Paddy.

Holland Reveals ADHD Diagnosis While Promoting LEGO Campaign

The news of Holland’s plans to build a non-profit school in his home town coincided with the actor admitting that he faced his own set of struggles in the London education system, revealing his ADHD and Dyslexia diagnoses in an interview with IGN.

Holland revealed his diagnoses while discussing the message of his recent short film promoting LEGO’s new “Never Stop Playing” campaign, telling IGN: “I have ADHD and I’m dyslexic, and I find sometimes when someone gives me a blank canvas that it can be slightly intimidating. And sometimes you are met with those challenges when developing a character.”

“So any way that you can, as a young person or as an adult, interact with something that forces you to be creative and forces you to think outside the box and make changes that might be in an instruction manual or might not be in an instruction manual just promototes healthy creativeity. And I think that the more we do that sort of stuff, the better,” he added.

While the interview marked the first time that the star opened up about having ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) this isn’t the first time that Holland has opened up about his dyslexia. He first discussed the diagnosis in 2021, revealing that he began attending a private school at just 7 years old to address his difficulties with reading and writing.
