On Sunday, September 21, 2025, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Holland suffered a concussion while on the set of the new “Spider-Man” movie. Luckily, the concussion is mild and no one else has been injured. According to The Sun, Holland acquired the injury during a botched stunt for the film.

Tom Holland attends Apple TV+’s “The Crowded Room” New York Premiere at Museum of Modern Art on June 01, 2023 in New York City.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is the fourth movie in the “Spider-Man” franchise. The film is set to release in 2026, according to Rotten Tomatoes. The previous film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” came out in 2021 and starred Holland alongside his fiancée Zendaya, Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Marisa Tomei.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” was Sony Pictures Entertainment’s highest-grossing film, according to The Numbers. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” is Sony’s second highest-grossing movie. That is to say the “Spider-Man” movies are an incredibly important money-maker for Sony.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will star Holland once again as the titular character. Zendaya will join her fiancé in the role of MJ. “Stranger Things’s” Sadie Sink will be joining the franchise for the first time. Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner.

This fourth “Spider-Man” movie will introduce a new director to the franchise, although he’s familiar to the MCU. Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has taken on the important role.

According to Deadline, filming began in Scotland in August. Holland previously shared his excitement to begin filming, saying, “Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together.”

However, the film is not exclusively being shot in Glasgow. There’s also a London set, which Holland and Zendaya were spotted at in August, according to People.

What Tom Holland’s Injury Means For ‘Spider-Man’

Due to his injury, Holland must take a break from filming. The exact length of that break is undetermined at this point. Tomorrow, Sony employees will meet to discuss adjusting the filming schedule. However, Holland is expected to return to filming at some point.

Despite his concussion, Elle reported that Holland and Zendaya attended the Brother’s Trust gala in London on Saturday, September 20. The trust was founded by Holland’s parents in 2017 to raise money for charitable causes.

The gala included a trivia component, which Holland hosted. There were prizes, including playing golf with the “Uncharted” actor. Jacob Batalon, another “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” actor, attended the gala as well.

Hopefully, Holland makes a full recovery soon and is able to return to both work and his personal life.
