Melissa Joan Hart Posts a Heartfelt Tribute to Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton tragically passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at age 79, and many celebrities have posted loving tributes in honor of their friend and co-worker, including “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star Melissa Joan Hart.

Over the years, Hart has grown from a child star to a successful, seasoned actor, as well as even a former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant.

Melissa Joan Hart’s Tribute Post

Although Hart and Keaton never shared the screen together, the “Clarissa Explains It All” actress took to Instagram on Saturday to explain exactly whats she admired about the Oscar-winning actress. For Hart, she commended Keaton’s “body of work, her class, her style,” and more, including Keaton’s “ability to be wildly talented and keep her private life our of tabloids.” Such a feat is not easy, and Hart wrote that Keaton’s success at remaining tabloid-free is “to be respected and studied for generations.”

Posting to her 1.8 million followers on the Meta platform, the Lifetime movie actress went on to list her favorite Keaton movies, including “Baby Boom” and “Something’s Gotta Give.” Hart admitted she had never seen the movie for which Keaton may be the most famous, “Annie Hall,” but she intends to watch it this weekend. “Annie Hall” won Best Picture at the 50th Academy Awards and won Keaton her first and only Oscar.

Hart wasn’t the only celebrity to make a social media post honoring the late Keaton. Many celebrities made posts in her honor, whether they had worked together or not. Keaton’s “First Wive’s Club” co-star Goldie Hawn wrote on Instagram, “Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you.”

Reese Witherspoon made both an Instagram post and spoke at a live event about her relationship with Keaton. According to “The Morning Show” actress, Keaton was “one of [her] first mentors in this business,” as Witherspoon moved away from her home in Nashville at age 15 and didn’t know many people in entertainment.

Although Keaton was never married, her on-screen husband from “Father of the Bride,” Steve Martin, made a comical post honoring his friends. Martin posted a screenshot of a moment from Interview in 2021, where his friend and “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Martin Short asked Keaton, “Who’s sexier, me or Steve Martin?” Keaton had the perfect reply, saying, “I mean, you’re both idiots.” Martin captioned the Instagram post, “Don’t know who first posted this, but it sums up our delightful relationship with Diane.”

Talk show host Ellen Degeneres was also one of the many celebrities to speak out about Keaton’s death, writing that Keaton was “a hero of mine growing up.” Keaton had once been surprised on “The Ellen Show” when her crush, Justin Bieber, gave her a hug on-stage.

Keaton will surely be missed by friends, family, and fans alike.
