The animated musical film “KPop Demon Hunters” scored three nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, announced Monday. The Netflix feature will compete for Best Motion Picture – Animated, Best Original Song – Motion Picture for “Golden,” and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

The nominations position the film as one of the year’s leading animated contenders. Industry analysts told The Hollywood Reporter that the film’s broad recognition reflects the growing impact of global pop culture in mainstream animation and awards circuits.

A Rising Global Hit

“KPop Demon Hunters” follows HUNTR/X, a fictional K-pop girl group that balances idol stardom with demon-hunting missions. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the film became one of Netflix’s strongest animated performers of 2025, driven largely by its music and multilingual appeal.

“Golden,” the film’s breakout single, is performed by vocalists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Variety reported that the track had already earned awards attention before its Golden Globe nomination, including recognition at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

EJAE, who co-wrote the song, told Deadline that the Golden Globe nod felt “surreal” and credited the film’s fanbase for the song’s rise.

Deadline reported that the film also benefited from a limited theatrical release that qualified it for major awards consideration, even though it debuted primarily on streaming. The outlet said the box office and streaming performance helped push the film into the Globes’ Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

What the Nominations Signal

The nominations highlight a shift in how animated films can compete during awards season. Variety reported that industry watchers view the film’s recognition as a sign that animation influenced by international music genres can stand alongside traditional studio productions.

The Golden Globe recognition also comes as the film campaigns for a spot in the Academy Awards’ Best Animated Feature race. Rolling Stone noted that the film has built a strong online following, which may bolster its awards momentum.

Even with competition from major studio releases, “KPop Demon Hunters” enters the season with a profile shaped by both critical attention and global fan engagement. The Hollywood Reporter said that the film’s soundtrack remains a key driver of its popularity, as K-pop continues to shape global music culture.

As the Golden Globes approach, the film’s creators await whether its nominations will translate into wins. Regardless of the outcome, the film’s presence in multiple categories signals that animated stories rooted in global pop and contemporary music trends are increasingly resonating with voters.

The University of Southern California will introduce a four-credit course centered on K-pop star G-Dragon in spring 2026, becoming the first U.S. university to dedicate a full academic class to a single K-pop artist. USC confirmed the class as part of its upcoming Annenberg School electives.

The course arrives at a moment when K-pop continues to deepen its footprint in global culture and higher education. It also coincides with the 20th anniversary of G-Dragon’s debut, which many scholars and industry experts credit as a turning point in modern K-pop.

Course explores influence beyond music

The course, titled “Crooked Studies of K-pop: The Case of G-Dragon,” will examine the musician’s impact on music production, fashion, youth culture, and global fandoms. Hye Jin Lee, a clinical professor at USC Annenberg, will teach the class. According to the Korea Times, the course aims to challenge assumptions that K-pop is purely commercial by analyzing its artistic and cultural dimensions through G-Dragon’s career.

USC lists the course among its Spring 2026 electives, placing it alongside offerings in sports, artificial intelligence, and media studies. The JoongAng Daily reported that the class will study G-Dragon’s dual identity as both a member of BIGBANG and a solo artist, focusing on his role in shaping K-pop’s sound and aesthetic over two decades.

Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon’s management company, told the Korea Times that the course is “highly meaningful” as the artist approaches his anniversary year. The agency said the class recognizes his influence on global pop culture and highlights the academic value of studying K-pop through a figure who helped define it.

K-pop enters the academic mainstream

Universities in the United States have previously offered courses on prominent pop figures such as Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, but USC’s decision marks one of the first instances of a K-pop star receiving the same level of academic attention. South Korean outlets noted that the course reflects the genre’s growing acceptance as a subject of scholarly research, not just entertainment coverage.

For USC, the class signals a broader shift toward integrating contemporary global culture into communication and media studies. For students, it will offer a structured exploration of the forces behind one of the most influential pop movements of the last 20 years.

As G-Dragon’s career reaches a milestone, USC’s new course suggests that his influence is not only chart-topping but also historically significant, giving K-pop a place in the lecture hall as well as on the world stage.

The Korean girl group LE SSERAFIM and the singing voices behind the animated project “KPop Demon Hunters” will perform during ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” on Dec. 31, the network and the group’s agency said Wednesday. The performers will join a star-studded lineup of musicians. The group spans multiple genres and will help welcome millions of viewers to the new year live from Times Square.

LE SSERAFIM is the only K-pop act on this year’s lineup. The singers behind the fictional group known as HUNTR/X — EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI — will also appear, adding a cross-media element to the broadcast, according to Soompi.

A Milestone for K-pop and Cross-Media Performance

The group’s agency said LE SSERAFIM will perform its track “Spaghetti,” bringing its high-energy choreography and sound to Times Square.

ABC’s announcement highlights the growing reach of K-pop beyond its core fan base. By placing LE SSERAFIM among major U.S. performers, the broadcast reinforces how Korean pop music continues to gain global traction.

HUNTR/X’s involvement reflects the trend of blending animation, storytelling, and live performance. Their appearance shows how entertainment formats are shifting as animated concepts move into real-world music stages, according to ABC7 New York.

A Record-Long Rockin’ Eve Lineup

This year’s edition of “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” will be the longest in the show’s history, with an expanded broadcast featuring performers across multiple time zones, ABC7 New York reported. The lineup includes Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Chappell Roan, and other major artists, according to Billboard.

The show begins at 8 p.m. Eastern on Dec. 31 and will stream on Hulu the following day. It will also include live check-ins from New Year’s celebrations in Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, and New Orleans. Producers said the expanded broadcast aims to reach a wider audience by combining established icons with rising acts. The mix of performers reflects the show’s goal to appeal to viewers of all ages and musical tastes as it enters its 54th year.

What This Moment Means

LE SSERAFIM’s role as the sole K-pop act positions the group as a representative of a genre that has steadily crossed into the global mainstream.

For HUNTR/X, performing on a major U.S. broadcast indicates that animated-to-live music projects are becoming a legitimate part of the industry rather than a niche experiment.

As viewers welcome 2026, the broadcast will showcase a moment of cultural fusion for fans of K-pop, animation, and multimedia performance.

K-pop powerhouse EXO has unveiled its first official six-member group photo, signaling a new chapter for the group as it prepares for a comeback in 2026. The announcement marks the end of the so-called “logo-only” era, which fans had criticized for lacking the full visual presence of the band.

On December 1, EXO released a portrait poster for its upcoming fan meeting, EXO’verse, scheduled for Dec. 13-14 at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The image features members Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun, and Lay in relaxed poses with soft lighting. Tickets for both sessions sold out quickly during the pre-sale, showing fans’ eagerness for the reunion, according to The Korea Times.

6 Members, New Era

The six-member lineup reflects recent changes in EXO’s composition. The three members who formed the subunit EXO-CBX — Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin — are not participating due to ongoing legal disputes with SM Entertainment, the group’s agency, The Korea Times reported. Fans have gradually adjusted to the absence of CBX members, focusing on the return of Lay, the Chinese member, who rejoins promotional activities for the first time since 2021. L’Officiel USA noted that Lay’s return adds renewed energy and a sense of completion for the group.

Industry experts view the six-member format as a strategic move by SM Entertainment to maintain EXO’s brand identity while acknowledging the realities of the current lineup, The Korea Times reported.

Fan Meeting & Album Release

EXO’verse promises more than a reunion. Fans will see live performances of popular hits, including “The First Snow,” as well as a first preview of a new track from the group’s upcoming album, HelloKpop reported. The fan meeting will be streamed globally, allowing fans worldwide to participate.

EXO is scheduled to release its eighth full-length album in the first quarter of 2026, marking the first major group project since “EXIST” in 2023, L’Officiel USA reported. Fans and industry observers anticipate that the album will blend EXO’s signature style with new musical directions, reinforcing the group’s position in third-generation K-pop.

A Renewed Chapter for EXO

After years of lineup changes, military service obligations, and legal disputes, EXO’s return signals resilience and evolution. The six members’ reunion under one frame demonstrates both survival and transformation for the decade-old group, according to The Korea Times.

With EXO’verse and a new album on the horizon, fans worldwide now count down to 2026, eager to see how the group will define its next era.

Actor and singer Yim Si-wan will make his official solo debut next month with the release of his first mini album, “The Reason,” his new label SMArt said Friday. The record will be released Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. KST on major streaming platforms.

The project marks the first time Yim has released a solo album since entering the industry 14 years ago. He debuted as a member of the K-pop group ZE:A in 2010 before shifting his focus to acting. He has appeared in hit dramas such as “Squid Games,” “Misaeng,” and “Run On,” as well as films including “The Attorney.”

A New Musical Chapter

SMArt said in a statement that the mini album will include five tracks. The agency said the project highlights Yim’s “delicate musical style” and introduces sounds he has not previously shown through soundtrack appearances. The Korea Times reported that the album will also serve as the first artist release under SMArt, a recently launched affiliate of SM Entertainment.

Industry officials say the new label plans to develop music that crosses genres, and they view Yim’s debut as a strategic starting point. The Korea Herald reported that veteran singer Kang Ta is taking part as the executive producer, guiding the album’s direction as SMArt begins building its roster.

Yim has contributed vocals to several television soundtracks throughout his acting career, but he has not released solo material outside those projects. The JoongAng Daily reported that his move into solo music reflects a growing interest among actor-idols who want to broaden their careers and reconnect with fans through music.

Growing Anticipation

SMArt said it will release concept teasers, behind-the-scenes clips, and promotional photos in the lead-up to the album launch. Fans widely shared an early teaser posted this week, which briefly previewed the album’s visual concept and generated speculation about the title track’s sound.

Physical album preorders are expected to open in mid-November. The rollout will likely include performances on major music programs, interviews, and additional digital content. The Korea Herald said industry observers will watch closely to see how Yim positions himself in a competitive solo landscape that features many actors returning to their musical roots.

Looking Ahead

Yim’s transition into solo music arrives at a time when entertainers are increasingly embracing hybrid careers that allow them to act, sing, and create across mediums. His profile as both an actor and former idol gives him an established fan base, but also adds pressure to deliver a strong debut.

As Yim prepares to reintroduce himself as a musician, “The Reason” may become a defining moment in his career. When the album arrives next month, fans will not only see the performer they have followed for years. They will finally hear the artist he has been shaping behind the scenes.

South Korean pop star HyunA collapsed onstage during her set at the Waterbomb 2025 music festival in Macau on Nov. 9, the singer’s camp confirmed. According to People, video footage shows the 33-year-old suddenly falling while performing her hit song “Bubble Pop!” before dancers and security carried her off the stage.

Health Scare Amid Weight-Loss Concerns

HyunA posted on Instagram that she weighed under 50 kilograms and appeared to have lost about 10 kilograms within a month, according to People. The sharp drop prompted concern among fans and medical observers who say rapid weight loss can increase fainting risks or cause an electrolyte imbalance. NDTV reported she has a history of vasovagal syncope, a condition that can trigger sudden drops in blood pressure and heart rate. In her apology posted on Instagram, HyunA said she did not remember the collapse and promised to build her stamina.

Several industry commentators say agencies should monitor artists with structured wellness plans. They argue that consistent medical supervision can reduce preventable emergencies. Some analysts also point to rising global awareness of burnout in the entertainment fields. They believe K-pop may face increased scrutiny if incidents continue. Fans say they want safer working conditions for performers. Many hope HyunA’s case sparks meaningful change across management practices.

Pressure Inside The Idol Industry

HyunA debuted with the girl group 4Minute before becoming a global solo act, according to People. Her long career reflects the intense standards placed on K-pop performers. Fox News reported that fans have expressed worry about extreme dieting trends in the industry. Experts say high-energy choreography, tight schedules, and public scrutiny can strain performers at every level.

Many fans say the incident should push agencies to prioritise safety during live events. Several commenters on social media urged stronger backstage protocols. They also called for longer rest periods between demanding shows. Critics note that intense touring schedules often allow little time for recovery. Advocates say HyunA’s experience highlights the need for improved health standards across the entertainment industry.

What Happens Next?

Her agency confirmed she is resting and undergoing medical checks, according to NDTV. HyunA said she plans to focus on improving her strength before returning to the stage. Industry watchers say her case could influence broader conversations about artist safety and wellness within K-pop.

When the lights faded in Macau, the concern shifted from spectacle to safety. HyunA’s collapse now stands as a stark reminder of the human cost behind K-pop’s relentless shine.

Felix of Stray Kids will appear on three solo covers of the December 2025 issue of Vogue Korea, the magazine announced. The feature marks an uncommon achievement in fashion for a fourth-generation K-pop star, according to AllKpop.

Landmark Moment in Fashion

Vogue Korea styled Felix in pieces by Louis Vuitton and photographed him under the direction of Park Jong-ha, the magazine said. The editorial emphasizes Felix’s evolution from performer into a global fashion figure. AllKpop reported that he is the first male idol from his generation to appear on multiple solo main covers for the publication.

The December issue will hit newsstands and digital platforms in late November, Vogue Korea said. The cover shoot includes a range of looks from sharp tailoring to high-glamour ensembles, highlighting Felix’s versatility as both a performer and style influencer. The magazine’s official Instagram account already posted the covers, generating thousands of likes and comments within hours, AllKpop reported. Fans shared their excitement, praising Felix’s visuals and styling in rapid social media reactions.

Cultural Significance

Felix’s triple-cover feature reflects the growing crossover between K-pop culture and luxury fashion, AllKpop reported. His role as a Louis Vuitton house ambassador since 2023 has positioned him at the intersection of entertainment and high fashion, according to his official biography.

Luxury magazines rarely dedicate more than one cover to a single individual. This shows both Felix’s appeal and Vogue Korea’s confidence.

The coverage also signals that idols increasingly shape trends beyond music. They serve as style leaders and visual ambassadors, AllKpop noted.

Inside the December Issue

Inside the issue, Vogue Korea presents multiple visual narratives of Felix, with styling and set designs created for the shoot to align with a theme of artistic evolution, the magazine said. Editorials reportedly include luxury accessories, textured fabrics, and settings that highlight both elegance and modernity. The feature positions Felix as a cultural figure whose influence extends beyond the stage.

Felix’s appearance on three solo covers of Vogue Korea’s December issue represents a milestone for both the artist and the industry. It underscores K-pop’s increasing impact on global fashion and highlights the role of music idols as visual icons, AllKpop reported. With the covers already live on the magazine’s Instagram, the issue is creating significant buzz online. As the issue launches, it offers a snapshot of a performer whose influence now spans entertainment, style, and international culture.

BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday to attend a pop-up event for Korean beauty brand TIRTIR, marking another milestone in the brand’s ambitious global expansion strategy.

The event, part of TIRTIR’s “V&YOU: Let’s Radiate” campaign, will take place from November 15 to 23 at 8175 Melrose Avenue, according to Allkpop. The immersive experience will feature multiple themed rooms, interactive installations, and exclusive product showcases centered on V’s role as the company’s first global ambassador.

A Star-Powered Brand Push

TIRTIR appointed V as its global ambassador earlier this month, citing his “expressiveness and refined sense of style,” Billboard reported. The Seoul-based beauty company, founded in 2016, is known for its viral Mask Fit Red Cushion foundation and is now expanding into new international markets, including the United States through Ulta Beauty and the United Kingdom through Sephora, as reported by Business of Fashion.

V’s collaboration with TIRTIR highlights the growing connection between Korean pop culture and the global beauty industry. His participation in the Los Angeles event underscores TIRTIR’s efforts to strengthen its presence outside Asia while appealing to a younger, international audience familiar with K-pop’s expanding influence.

Fans and Cultural Reach

V shared a short video on Instagram before he departed from Seoul, saying, “I will go and come back,” Allkpop reported. Photos from the airport showed him in an olive-green knit jacket, jeans, and glasses, sparking excitement and trending hashtags online amongst his fans.

The Los Angeles pop-up is expected to attract both beauty enthusiasts and BTS fans eager to engage with the campaign’s message of individuality, creativity, and confidence. The “V&YOU” experience merges TIRTIR’s skincare philosophy with V’s image of authenticity and originality.

As Business of Fashion noted, partnerships between K-pop stars and beauty brands are reshaping how global consumers perceive Korean products. By aligning with V, TIRTIR gains credibility in Western markets and taps into one of the world’s most engaged fanbases.

The Bigger Picture

V’s move into brand ambassadorship reflects a broader shift in entertainment marketing, where artists increasingly bridge industries from music to fashion and beauty. His influence extends far beyond performance, shaping trends that redefine how culture travels across borders.

The Los Angeles pop-up opens Friday, but the excitement has already begun. With V leading TIRTIR’s expansion, the collaboration signals more than a brand event; it’s another sign that K-pop’s global reach now includes the beauty aisle.

The Seoul-based label confirmed the news Tuesday, saying the members expressed their intention to resume activities under ADOR after “careful consideration.” The decision marks the end of one of K-pop’s most closely watched disputes this year, according to The Korea Times. Industry experts said the move could help stabilize the group’s management structure and signal renewed cooperation between artists and agency leadership.

The conflict began in late 2024 when NewJeans said they were ending their exclusive contracts with ADOR, citing mismanagement and loss of trust. ADOR sued to confirm the validity of the contracts.

In March, a Seoul court ruled in ADOR’s favor, preventing the group from pursuing independent activities. The court later reaffirmed that the contracts remain valid through 2029, according to Billboard.

After the ruling, Haerin and Hyein were the first to announce their return. They said in a statement that they decided “after careful discussion with their families” and wanted to respect the court’s decision, The Korea Times reported.

Soon after, Minji, Hanni, and Danielle issued a joint message confirming their intent to rejoin ADOR. “After careful discussion, we have decided to return,” they said, according to Rolling Stone. The group added that one member was abroad, which caused a delay in communication with the agency.

ADOR said it would verify the statement and asked fans to “avoid speculation while details are confirmed,” BBC News reported.

What Comes Next for NewJeans

The full reunion allows ADOR to restore the team that helped launch one of K-pop’s fastest global rises. Industry analysts say the decision could stabilize NewJeans’ career and rebuild public trust after months of legal headlines.

ADOR is expected to plan the group’s first comeback since the dispute began. Music industry sources told Billboard that new recordings and performance schedules are being discussed internally. Fans also hope the return will lead to international promotions that were paused during the legal proceedings.

For fans, the reunion brings relief and anticipation. “We just want them together again and happy,” one fan wrote on social media.

The members’ decision to reunite closes a tense chapter in their story but opens a new one for the group’s future. As NewJeans prepares to move forward, all eyes will be on how they rebuild momentum and restore harmony within ADOR.

Jennie of BLACKPINK will headline Spain’s 2026 Mad Cool Festival, becoming the only K-pop artist in the event’s lineup, according to The Korea Times. The announcement marks another major step in Jennie’s solo career and highlights K-pop’s growing presence at global music festivals. The festival appearance follows a series of international performances that have solidified Jennie’s reputation as a leading figure in the global pop scene.

The festival is set for July 8 to 11 in Madrid. Organizers confirmed that Jennie will perform on July 9, according to The Korea Times. She will share the stage with Foo Fighters, Florence + the Machine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Twenty One Pilots.

Jennie’s Global Momentum Builds

Mad Cool Festival began in 2016 and has become one of Europe’s leading summer music events. It is known for featuring artists across rock, pop, and electronic genres, according to Soompi. The 2026 edition will celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary with more than 70 performers.

Jennie’s spot as the only K-pop headliner adds to her growing list of international milestones. Earlier this year, she performed at Coachella, a major U.S. festival that further solidified her global recognition. Her upcoming appearance in Madrid continues that momentum and strengthens her reputation as a crossover artist beyond the K-pop industry.

Industry watchers say her participation shows how festival organizers are embracing K-pop’s global popularity. Having a single artist represent the genre on such a large stage underscores both Jennie’s star power and K-pop’s expanding influence.

A New Stage for K-pop Visibility

Fans expect Jennie’s Mad Cool performance to mix her solo tracks with BLACKPINK hits. Her sets are known for detailed choreography, live vocals, and strong visual production. For festivalgoers unfamiliar with K-pop, her show could offer a new entry point into the genre.

Her role also carries symbolic weight. Jennie’s inclusion signals a shift toward more diverse lineups at major European events, where K-pop has had limited representation. The move may encourage other Asian acts to pursue similar opportunities and highlight the demand for more international diversity on major stages.

Next year’s festival aims to draw music fans from around the world to Madrid. Jennie’s appearance is expected to boost attendance, attract global media coverage, and strengthen Mad Cool’s reputation as a truly international event.

Jennie’s performance is more than just another concert date. It reflects K-pop’s expanding influence worldwide. Jennie remains at the forefront of the movement and continues to connect cultures through her performances and creative vision.
