Scott Hoying and his pro-partner, Rylee Arnold, didn’t just dance on “Disney Night.” They turned the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom into East High’s hottest pep rally. Yep, the Pentatonix star and his pro partner took on the “High School Musical” classic “Bop to the Top.” And it was every bit as fun and flashy as fans hoped it would be. After a string of strong performances this season, the pair stepped it up (literally) with a Salsa routine that was bursting with color, confidence, and charm.
“Bop to the Top,” But Make It Ballroom
Let’s be real; “Bop to the Top” isn’t exactly the easiest song to transform into a ballroom number. But Scott pulled it off like a true pro. Their Salsa dance had all the signature Disney sparkle, but with a Latin flair that gave it extra fire. Between the sharp spins, quick footwork, and that signature Hoying grin, it was clear they were having the time of their lives out there.
The choreography leaned hard into the playful, high-energy nature of the song, complete with a few crowd-pleasing tricks that got the audience on their feet. And it seems like all that energy paid off. And this could have been one of the most entertaining numbers of the night. According to People, this week’s DWTS lineup featured music inspired by Disney movies and attractions, but Scott and Rylee’s pick easily stood out as one of the most nostalgic.
Their Chemistry Keeps Getting Better
Scott and Rylee’s partnership has been one of the sweetest surprises this season. From their first rehearsal clips, fans noticed their easy banter and mutual respect. It’s not just teacher-student… it’s teammate energy. Rylee’s choreography seems to perfectly match Scott’s natural musical instincts (not shocking for a guy who’s been performing for over a decade).
In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Rylee even called him “fierce” and hinted she’d love to bring a Pentatonix twist into a future routine. After tonight’s performance, it’s easy to see why. His rhythm, timing, and stage presence are all major strengths. The way they connect on the floor gives their routines a sense of heart that’s hard to fake.
Here for the Disney Magic
The judges gave Scott Hoying and Rylee decent scores earning them a 21/30 overall for the night.
- Bruno Tonioli: 7/10
- Derek Hough: 7/10
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7/10
It seems like “Disney Night” might’ve been their most memorable number yet, the kind that makes people smile long after the glitter settles. Whether or not the live voters give them enough to stay, it’s safe to say Scott and Rylee did “bop to the top” tonight.
